Hi vpr. A friend of mine based not far from Chippenham and his brother in law (who runs a business called Ultimate Race Cars, specialising in engines for drag racing).

Between the two of them they have transformed the way my car steers and handles. They've even made the non servoed drum brakes work reasonably well!! Haven't managed to make it watertight though...you need to wear waterproofs inside the car with the hood up if it's raining!

Little Noddy car ! sadly the chap who bought it was going to paint it green and make it RH drive. It was a one owner from new nothing changed other than repair and original paint. Sad it will be altered so much. But at least it will live on.

A three-owner car that's lived on three continents.

Bought new by my godmother in 1962. Lived in London. Second owner took it to live in New Zealand. I bought it, had it shipped back to UK, nut-and-bolt restoration at Canley Classics (the best), and shipped to my place in New York.

Sure is - and I think the herald deserves to be seen more - any more pics of it in various guises? Rebuild shots etc ... parked on the mean streets of NYC etc ... would make for a great shot I'm sure.

This design really has aged well, I think they are stunning and that is a lovely example. I bet it sounds fantastic!
If your C2 coupe is a 4 speed L36 390hp 427 cu in I can relate the performance and handling of this from my '68 Vette which will have much the same basic chassis and running gear.
With optional 'Slalom' suspension package ride and handling are much less 'floaty' than standard suspension - although still perhaps not as firm on the front end as a European sports or GT car from the period. The engine is wonderfully flexible and will have enough torque to pull from 10/12 mph in top gear. With the 4 speed c/r gearbox 0-60 times of 5 seconds are feasible. C3's had bigger 15 x 8" wheels and 225 section tyres - still woefully inadequate. Roll on a few years and now with modern 18" diameter tyres and Koni gas shocks the handling is transformed and whilst no really a sports car in the true sense it will handle reasonably well if treated with respect. Aerodynamics are poor and the front end will become very 'light' over 120 mph or so. Non power brakes are as good as anything from the period, although now they struggle to retard the car with its current 'stroker' 570bhp 489 cu in engine!

That is sensational.

I've always hankered after a Mechatronik conversion of an SE with a modern AMG 5.5 V8....

One of my most recent acquisition - with a very happy father in law reliving happy memories of when owned a similar one in the 1970's

I’ll happily drive at 90-100 in the E, maybe more but the Vette just sounds too painfully mechanical to give me peace of mind at speed. Revs low but sounds but I think it’s the side pipes playing games. Fasted I’ve been is 90 briefly. The rest of the time 60-70 tops.
I took my old E-type (4.2 S1) up to max. a few times, seeing 135 on the clock and it felt steady as a rock. I haven't tried it in the current one (3.8), mainly because of the brakes (original and frightening!). Never driven a 'Vette.

Lovely patina on the interior.
