Time for a little surgery...

Apparently the patient is responding well with no chronic symptoms though upon opening up it was clear many faculties were on the point of failure. Good news was a very healthy heart!

Report list is full top-end rebuild with new radiator, clutch and as many hoses, pipes and sensors as we can find. Bottom end untouched - bores look pristine, compression good all round, and the car was running smooth before the work.

Bad news is my wallet doesn’t have the capacity to get the AC fixed which means another sweaty summer...

Great, except the bizarre lighting arrangement; what's all that about?

Here's my 67 Mustang. I've owned it for 15 years but don't use it as much as I should.

And here is my recently purchased 1989 Orion 1.6i Ghia. Just reliving my youth!

That's a terrific Mustang Darren. I'm less enamoured with the other one, but the power of nostalgia is considerable. So, nice combo.

I have had my hands on her, just not washed her! She has recently had a big new radiator, mechanical oil pressure gauge, stainless wires and a new fuel tank.

This summer has been to France, Holland Belgium and Germany, so was covered in squashed flies!

Although mechanically she is all new, the body and body fittings are all original as she has never been in an accident or got rusty! She is opalescent silver grey that is very flat indeed.

She also went round the Nurburgring where she was dicing with some worryingly low value stuff (86' Nissan Micra anyone?). Recommended though.

That looks lovely. Nice to see it being used properly, and not just polished. They somehow look better unwashed.

That's one common thing about the 'period pictures' thread, most of the exotica pictured look well used!

I keep my Quattro dirty because it covers up the worn-out paintwork and the little bits of rust on the arches. paperbag

Also means I'm quite happy to use it quite a lot without being terrified of it getting scratched or whatever.

My Dad and I recently imported this from Holland to share, it's an 86 3.2 Carrera, moss green, non sunroof model... Originally a German car, then imported into Holland in 94 and we got the UK reg through late last week, it's had a big service at our local specialist and i've been enjoying it ever since.

Needs a few bits sorting (Mainly the heating and aircon) but mostly it's excellent. I'm quite taken with it.
