General practice used to be that lines from London were referred to as the Down line, with lines to London referred to as the Up line, and trains pass on the left, which is how the logo is derived.

I wonder when it'll get replaced with something else. They're saying that gatwick might get refurbed, for the olympics, so it might not be long now.
