Until about 1 year ago, I never realised that the logo represented two train tracks. I saw it virtually every day, but it never "clicked". Same with the National Lottery (crossed fingers) logo, one day I looked at it and suddenly realised that it was also a smiling face.

Yep, and the arrow details denote the "Up" and "Down" directions of travel.
General practice used to be that lines from London were referred to as the Down line, with lines to London referred to as the Up line, and trains pass on the left, which is how the logo is derived.

The BR crows foot denotes the direction of trains, always on the left, so say you where stood in the middle of two tracks, the tracks on your left would go in the direction you were facing.
