We have a home in 87, and have done since 2006. It's a second home, and we don't live there, or spend more than 50% of the year there.

Every October, I pay my Taxes Foncières regular as clockwork. Indeed, I just paid for 2018.

Today, for the first time ever, I've received a Tax d'Habitation bill for the first time. And it includes my tv licence frown

Have I just been lucky for a dozen years by not getting a bill?
Is this a mistake?
WTF?

I know we get concessions as it's a maison secondaire; I (perhaps foolishly) just assumed they were charging me correctly.

I don't want to query it with the tres. in case they try to backcharge me. I had a protracted argument with them last year, when they tried to claim I hadn't paid the foncière. Eventually, in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, they fked off without so much as an apology.

And do they have a right to charge me retrospectively for previous years?

ETA: I suspect I know the answer to all of this, BTW frown

I got the invite from impots this morning to view my Taxe D'Habitation online, had a look and it's a big fat zero to pay. Also, received a letter from them saying that I didn't need to pay the Audio Visual taxe as my Taxe D'Habitation is zero this year I am excused from the Audio Visual too.

I know the rules changed recently regarding the tax and for full-time residents it's being phased out but not for holiday homes as far as I can tell. It looks as though we've been included in the first phase of the tax elimination, I guess the trawl through the records has found that yours is a holiday home and am surprised that you've not paid before.

Where in 87 are you?

Yeah, I heard it was being phased out too, which is why I was surprised to get a bill, but I suspect, as you said this results from a trawl through the records.

I think I should just pay it and say nowt. Avoid rocking the boat, because I don't want them to dig too far into the past smile

We're officially Rochechouart (which is where the Tres. was, until they moved to St Junien), but are halfway between there and Saint Mat.

That's close enough. I don't want the tresorerie tracking me down smile

ETA: Are you close to there? Full time?

Not far at all! We drive through Maisonnais on the way to the golf course at Le Chat. Not to play golf, but the restaurant used to be pretty good. I say 'used to be' because I heard that the Dutch owners had moved on, and we've not been since...

We're the other side of Oradour-sur-Vayres at the Chalus end of the D901 and our commune is Champsac. We bought in 2004 and moved over in 2007. Used to go to a hairdresser near Vayres at Chez Brandy (Dave and Christine) but they moved back to Ireland about 4 years ago.

Sounds like a plan. Won't be until easter, unless the roof blows off over the winter...

Hi Guy's.

I'm 'full time' in Piegut (just south of St Mathieu), so seems like quite a few of us are in the area.

Would be good to meet up at some point when you guys are all here.

Cheers

Piegut market is a bit of a regular for us.

I'll make a post when we're going over next, and see who's available for meeting up.

Yup. Should be off middle of december.

I have to get an attestation from the mayor to avoid the tax d hab. Got my foncaire bill and paid that today.
