You can, but you still need the form completed and signed to say you're exercising.

The English link above explains how to fill it in if you don't speak French - but just take a photo / tell me what you need to know and I'll translate it if needed.
I'm fine thanks for the offer, just had 3 printed ones dropped off so we should be ok. I"ll be writing my own for the rides along with some ID and French address.

I think you will still need to stay in your commune area.

I doubt that's the case, there's certainly no references to that restriction anywhere I've looked on the government website. Added to that, many communes, mine included, don't have a single shop etc and most people work elsewhere too.

I'll get back however I can (usually fly). My concern is that I cannot leave until my oppo arrives, i.e. will they will allow non-French nationals to enter the country?
Looks like you're ok, the UK is counted as 'in' the EU still

A friend of Mrs S was out walking her dog 1km away from her house, got checked by the gendarmes and was reprimanded for being so far from home.
I think alot of people are taking liberties with the dog walking and exercise.

From what I'm told, they're being 'softly, softly' this week but will continue to check and start to fine people if they don't follow rules.

I live in a quiet little cul-de-sac and everyone just seems to be gardening hehe

I'll be in the forest in 5 mins from leaving the house and I doubt I'll see anyone.
I've seen less Gendarmes now than in "normal' times, must be all busy at the checkpoints outside towns?

You're wrong. Dog walking and excercise must only be carried out close to home. You can go elsewhere to shop and work and for something essential but must have the correct filled in form and identification and proof where you live.

There seems to be border controls in place stopping non-French from entering the country. Does anyone know if they are likely to allow me to drive in to France from Geneva so I can drive back to England?

From what I can tell here:

You'll be okay as Switzerland is within the overall closed zone and you're an EU citizen trying to go home (seems both points are ok).

Alternatively....late night run into the French side of Geneva? hehe /60sspythrillerstyle

The advice given to UK folks in Spain trying to drive back to the UK is to print off the declaration sheets for Spain and France and add at the bottom words to the effect that you are returning to the UK by car and have your return booking available as proof and the police are happy.
Certainly one of my mates and his wife used this method on Tuesday and yesterday and had no problems and got back via the tunnel this morning.
Just have one sheet for each day and extra sheets per day for each person in the vehicle - I sent him this as he doesn't speak French -
"Je rentre au Royaume-Uni en voiture via le tunnel sous la Manche à Coquelles".
He said the Gendarmes who checked him 3 times on the journey through France took one look at them and waved him through, never even asked for proof of travel.

I think that we country folk are being penalised because of the city, especially Parisian, folk. We bought a new pack of A4 paper to mass produce these certificates.

We had to drive to the local Super U yesterday, we saw a guy out riding his bike, a couple walking, but no Gendarmes. Only one person was allowed into the store, but it was well stocked.

The valve on a tyre of my Boxster has perished over the winter. Am I allowed to take the wheel to my local garage for repair? Markets are still open, that seems bonkers considering the other restrictions.

This exercise is a bigger issue. When I go out alone on my road bike, I normally do at least a 20km round trip. I can’t see much difference spending the same amount of time walking round the local vineyards. Fortunately I have a Concept 2 rowing machine which I have not used for 15-years, so I spent yesterday cleaning that up. It’s got a lot harder over the intervening period smile

Not sure it’s that straightforward tbh, second home owners heading to the country, students going home, oh and the goods arriving at the Super U may well all carry this stuff.

To assume you’ll be alright Jack is why so much of Italy is in peril.

It’s st, but could be worse.

So I got bored, which made me start to think, which can be dangerous.
As we can't buy hand sanitiser, I started experimenting.....
Using burning alcohol ( alcool a bruler ) strangely available in Carrefour today which is 90 proof, I started at a 9:1 mix, alcohol to soap but it stung a bit.... 8:2 however worked rather well so I now have 2.5 litres mixed up!
