I know what you mean regarding the lack of a 'Touring' model - I have owned an RS6 and whilst they are ballistic in a straight line, I always thought the handling was lacking 'feel'.
I can probably manage with a saloon - I have a mobility scooter which I use for shopping etc, and my new scooter will fit in the boot of the 5 series/E-class etc which my old one would not.
I might look at the Alpina B5 Touring though ?

Just had an email from BMW asking if I would like to register interest/have a test drive/leave a deposit.
Starting price is £87160 + delivery, number plates, first registration fee and of course plus first year's tax (plus options).
So in short it will be low 90's off the production line and that's a lot of money (it is to be fair pretty well equipped but we all add the odd bit here and there).
Now my 2013 M5 with a few options cost £72000 and I imagine BMW will offer a discount against list on the new car but it's bloody expensive to start with and I'm not sure (in fact I'm quite sure) the M5 is not a £90k car and I won't be dropping a deposit on one (but I WILL have an extended test drive in one that's for sure
Now I'm pretty sure BMW won't lose any sleep if I don't buy one but I have over the last too many years to remember spent a lot of money with them and if I'm a typical buyer then the new BMW M5 will be a rare beast
Shame as I bet it's a belter
It will however be interesting to see where the pricing settles down and how well it sells and to those who will dig (very) deep into their pockets to buy one...............
You lucky, lucky bds

I too got the email and registered interest etc etc.
Price wise - the thing I noticed is that the standard car comes pretty much loaded.
My 2015 M5 with options (similar to those that are now standard) retail was 82k - so its not got that much more expensive..
Will be test driving one as soon as a demo becomes available...

System ordering opens on Sep 8th, world Premiere at Frankfurt Motor Show in Sep, production begins in Nov 2017 and market launch - i.e. first customer cars - on 31st March 2018.
It's £3k uplift over a spec-equivalent F10M, so that's in effect what you're paying for the increased performance and ///M xDrive system, latest generation infotainment etc.

Am considering putting down a deposit as my local dealer rang me yesterday, but with a couple of options it works out around the 93k mark , so I'm going to wait a few weeks and think about it .
Weight wise I don't know exactly what it weighs but my dealer told me that it's 30kg lighter than the F10

Does look interesting spec wise. Base spec well ahead of F10. F10s seem either base spec or loaded e.g. Full leather, alcanatra, comfort etc.. and the car really needs all these options. so those with deep pockets willing to fund depreciation will hopefully put some great deals on forecourts around 2020, when my F10 M5 service pack expires... think I'll register interest for a test pilot drive anyway.

Are you sure? I think it's closer to £7/8k having read in detail the new price list etc. I can see £9-10k of almost like for like kit that's now standard on the F90, but i can't see more than that. Wheel options is skewed as no larger wheel option on the F90 so although i have factored this in, it's probably real world not relevant as now 20" is the standard wheel whereas on the F10 it was an option. It's £3k uplift over a spec-equivalent F10M, so that's in effect what you're paying for the increased performance and ///M xDrive system, latest generation infotainment etc.
Biggest gain is the Full Leather which was over £5k on the F10, others are the M Multifunction Seats, HK sound system & Surround View.

Adaptive LED and the multifunction seats were about £3k combined. The wheel option is relevant because most buyers specced 20" on the F10 as you know, which cost about £2k. Comfort access and surround view would have been about £1300 combined. I think you'd have to have added £11-12k to a standard F10 to get the equivalent spec.
I'd quite like one with the premium hifi and sports exhaust - I'd probably also swap the CF roof for the sunroof as I really enjoy having that open in the F10.

I hadn't factored in the LED lights as wasn't sure if they were even available on the F10 at launch, but i did forget about Comfort Access.I think you'd have to have added £11-12k to a standard F10 to get the equivalent spec.

Agree to a point on the wheels, but given no option wheel exists on the F90 i didn't factor it in as no upgrade's available so comparing standard over standard their's no cost difference.
However, if that's included then & rolling in the LED lights, you have possibly closer to £13k of additional spec on the F90 that's now standard so the delta for the newer model, more modern toys, lower weight, AWD & better performance is only around £3k over the F10, which is a bit of a bargain. Just realised that i've also not factored in the BMW Individual Headlining in Alcantara which is also now included.
At a guess, the weight disadvantage of the Sunroof could be well over 50kg, so i'd take the CF roof & against a Blue body with Sun Protection Glass (i'd opt for the Comfort Package) & the black accents (High Gloss Shadowline) i think it would look stunning.

Multi-function seats were STD in the LCI M5 I had and in the M6.Agree to a point on the wheels, but given no option wheel exists on the F90 i didn't factor it in as no upgrade's available so comparing standard over standard their's no cost difference.

M Multi Function seats were a cost option seat in the LCi M5. Looked more lounge seat (thicker) whereas the standard seats were let's say thinner & looked a touch more sporty. Many thought the option seat lifted the interior & added an air of luxury, personally i preferred mine but then i'm tight when it comes to optionsYours may have come with them but someone will have paid for them & very likely are/were standard on the M6.
