PCI Express x8 (with x16 connector)??

Hi,

I am looking for a graphics card for a PC.

The specs of the PC states the following slots:

PCI Express x8 (with x16 connector);
PCI Express x4 (with x8 connector);
PCI Express x1,
Two PCI 32 bit/33MHz, 5v

I can see looking at Graphics Cards, most are PCIe x16, but I don't understand why the specs say "PCI Express x8 (with x16 connector)". Is the x16 slot I am looking at really a x8 slot???
