A4 servicing - more audi confusion!
Discussion
In my A4 've done 36k now, warning light on dash for;
Inspection 1200 miles or 38 Days
Oil Change 1000 miles or 223 days.
Ring up audi to ask what pricing it'll be, get quoted a price before it goes out of warranty (397) and one when before (329).
What is this all about? why does it cost more to service before it goes out of warranty? was this ballcocks?
I also need Stronic refilled @ 38k (Then says 40k on MyAudi?!?), then MOT at 3 years (end of Oct).
I'm thinking to spread cost I'll do oil/inspection/MOT a month early then S tronic service when it lights up, anyone done this?
Losing the plot with this I really am, audi servicing has never been easy to understand.

bks? Almost certainly.
Audi pricing on newer/older makes no sense at all. It's usually more for younger cars simply because they can get away with it. The work and parts are more often than not identical.
The S Tronic interval now is 40k (it was 38). Audi have changed a few fairly recently.
If you live near a good specialist you'd like to think the cost combined would be a little lower. I personally would be tempted to do all the 40k bits (major, gearbox oil, brake fluid) now and know you're well up to date. This way you'll also know that in a year all you'll need is a basic oil change.
If you want to, message me your chassis number and I'll screen grab Erwin showing official intervals for your car. I *think* MyAudi shows a lot of this anyway now.

Also always surprises me how quickly the service department can offer discounts when asked..
Getting hold of someone who is interested in discussing pricing is the difficulty these days. You often just get transferred to a call centre. Also some dealerships are very busy and don't have to chase work.deason said:
This is the third year and its on PCP, is independent servicing advisable?
Are you likely to hand the car back at the end of the PCP?deason said:
That audi poole price is interesting why am i being quoted so much for what will just really be a pollen filter and oil change!

They offer cheaper servicing on older (3 year+) cars. https://www.audi.co.uk/owners-area/servicing-maint...It's a little odd that the inspection service is coming due now, given that it's only had one service before... When was it last serviced, and did it have an oil service or an inspection?

19k.
I guess that makes sense. Maybe you did a lot more miles in the first year than the subsequent ones.Assuming your PCP has more than a month or so to run I think you're stuck with having the inspection service and soon the Stronic oil done.
Check your PCP contract to see what it says about servicing requirements (who and when) unless you are absolutely 100% sure you're going to buy the car when the PCP runs out. Certainly worth haggling herd with dealers on service prices. Expect to get close to the the 'fixed price' figures for older cars.
I'd get it serviced/MOT'd before the warranty runs out. Removes any concern about who's going to pay for any bits they find have broken.

No doubt they'll also try and upselling an air con service / refresh too.
I just had that call too on a two-year old car, FFS.Was just presented with a price for the next two services - two different prices as the snuck an a/c service onto the second price. Yet completely omitted brake fluid. "That's a customer option, sir". Just fk off.

Madness forgetting brake fluid; it's only a ~50 quid job but the actual monetary cost to the dealer is probably under a pound.
Oh, they don't forget it, it's done entirely on purpose. And the rack-rate price is £60. It's a way of making back the "discount" they offer to entice people to take the service plan.Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
