In my A4 've done 36k now, warning light on dash for;

Inspection 1200 miles or 38 Days
Oil Change 1000 miles or 223 days.

Ring up audi to ask what pricing it'll be, get quoted a price before it goes out of warranty (397) and one when before (329).

What is this all about? why does it cost more to service before it goes out of warranty? was this ballcocks?

I also need Stronic refilled @ 38k (Then says 40k on MyAudi?!?), then MOT at 3 years (end of Oct).

I'm thinking to spread cost I'll do oil/inspection/MOT a month early then S tronic service when it lights up, anyone done this?

Losing the plot with this I really am, audi servicing has never been easy to understand.

bks? Almost certainly.

Audi pricing on newer/older makes no sense at all. It's usually more for younger cars simply because they can get away with it. The work and parts are more often than not identical.

The S Tronic interval now is 40k (it was 38). Audi have changed a few fairly recently.

If you live near a good specialist you'd like to think the cost combined would be a little lower. I personally would be tempted to do all the 40k bits (major, gearbox oil, brake fluid) now and know you're well up to date. This way you'll also know that in a year all you'll need is a basic oil change.

If you want to, message me your chassis number and I'll screen grab Erwin showing official intervals for your car. I *think* MyAudi shows a lot of this anyway now.

OP - as per Dr G, I would be getting a quote from a local Independent. The days of having only the dealer to service your car is well and truly over. Make sure they use genuine Audi parts..

Also always surprises me how quickly the service department can offer discounts when asked..

Just had a 100k service at Poole Audi for my 2010 A4 3.0TDI Quattro. £189!

Great service, with a lift to and from my place of work, which was going to cost £50 in taxis alone.

Amazing service, and at that price there is little point going anywhere else!

Come to think of it, they also fixed a rattle on the drivers door speaker which involved removing the door card and they didn't even charge me for it!

Fancy a trip to the south coast? The difference will get you a modest hotel room ; )

Getting hold of someone who is interested in discussing pricing is the difficulty these days. You often just get transferred to a call centre. Also some dealerships are very busy and don't have to chase work.

This is the third year and its on PCP, is independent servicing advisable?

That audi poole price is interesting why am i being quoted so much for what will just really be a pollen filter and oil change!

I've got quotes from Sailsbury for these.

Audi do fixed price servicing for vehicles over 3 years (you can check on the website)
Mines due a major shortly (oil, filters, inspection etc) and Audi's fixed price was cheaper than the independents ~£40
I was very surprised TBh!

Are you likely to hand the car back at the end of the PCP?

The Audi Poole price is the fixed price Interim service for older cars. You're being quoted for a Major service. Is it only the car's second service?

Yes....hence why i'm not sure whether independent is a good option.

They offer cheaper servicing on older (3 year+) cars. https://www.audi.co.uk/owners-area/servicing-maint...

It's a little odd that the inspection service is coming due now, given that it's only had one service before... When was it last serviced, and did it have an oil service or an inspection?

What mileage/date was that done at? I think it will also need new brake fluid at three years old...

No doubt they'll also try and upselling an air con service / refresh too.

I guess that makes sense. Maybe you did a lot more miles in the first year than the subsequent ones.

Assuming your PCP has more than a month or so to run I think you're stuck with having the inspection service and soon the Stronic oil done.

Check your PCP contract to see what it says about servicing requirements (who and when) unless you are absolutely 100% sure you're going to buy the car when the PCP runs out. Certainly worth haggling herd with dealers on service prices. Expect to get close to the the 'fixed price' figures for older cars.

I'd get it serviced/MOT'd before the warranty runs out. Removes any concern about who's going to pay for any bits they find have broken.

Inchcape dealers are terrible for this and they have a monopoly on some marques around me - it was already on the job sheet on our VWs 2nd service on the VW service plan and they expected me to authorise it and pay. Told them to take it off. At 3yrs I was told in their best serious voice that the car was "overdue its air conditioning service".

Was just presented with a price for the next two services - two different prices as the snuck an a/c service onto the second price. Yet completely omitted brake fluid. "That's a customer option, sir". Just fk off.

Sounds like they've bought a new AC machine the DP wants paying for wink

Madness forgetting brake fluid; it's only a ~50 quid job but the actual monetary cost to the dealer is probably under a pound.

Oh, they don't forget it, it's done entirely on purpose. And the rack-rate price is £60. It's a way of making back the "discount" they offer to entice people to take the service plan.
