I've been in the Car with Martin a few times he's on another level, They just don't seem to think the same way we do about speed but I also never felt in any danger out of this world

The old models don't look out-of-date as such, just different to the current iteration. Wish I could afford one to go with the old shed...
I think Lotus could release this tomorrow and it'd still look badass (adopt bias mode):

4th that notion yes The back end on the S1 Exige is just the business.

again a delay?
its taken them long, guess they want to get it right? (thats a good thing)

so 13 Feb 2013 it is then, on a positive note its a better time in the year, so customers could see a long? summer ahead to enjoy the car.
by then they also have a option to 400hp I guess biggrin

Despite Lotus’ PR offensive at the end of July, we understand that production of the new Exige S has not started in earnest. There were initially some minor issues which delayed the completion of customer cars, but now these have been addressed the assembly team lack all the correct parts to complete the build.

Subsequently, no customer orders have been fulfilled (which is one reason why you’ll not see any cars on the road), so deposit holders and dealers are losing patience, with several promising never to buy from Lotus again. After such strong press reviews of the Exige S, it’s such a shame to hear that much of this early momentum has all but disappeared.

Frightening to see the poor level of Lotus sales. I'm a fan, I love my car yet on seeing the sales figures, have to ask myself is my passion for the marque misplaced. Difficult to see the company surviving on such low volume. No doubt lots of people have their ideas on why they are not selling. But the end result is for all to see. Then we see projects not coming to fruition on time, disgruntled customers and dealers, it just goes from bad to worse. Don't know where we're going but the signs are not good. My French friend is pulling out of his purchase, ordered over 12 months ago. He's just had enough. Ordered a Porsche in the mean time. Cant blame him.

Does your passion for a car depend on sales success Simpo?

If your friend places driving pleasure above all else (he probably doesn't, very few do) then he'll get bored of the porsche and will be back when Lotus's malaysian owners finally get on with making cars. If jack of all trades, quite good at everything is what sets his world alight then the porsche will do nicely. If not, he's better off waiting for the Lotus.

No matter how frustrated people with orders are feeling it must be small compared with the frustration of working in Lotus right now. Sitting on a full order book and for corporate nonsense beyond reason you aren't allowed to fulfill cruical orders on the best car you've made in years. If they don't start getting cars out soon the order book will start making its way inevitably to Stuttgart just to add to the agony. I wouldn't wish that fate on anyone.

I can only implore DRB to sort their st out ffs and to those with orders just to hang in there. By all accounts the car will be worth it.

All good stuff, only problem is that we had the same accolades for the Evora being the next big thing, and look how that panned out.

Big fat car - 'BFC' if you like. Somewhat stupid but in a pleasing way. Best version yet. You know you want to shag her at least once. Not all that relevant to Lotus. Front looks too much like the F12. Front splitters are a fortune to replace - at least the ACR versions are of the previous version. Muscle car.

I'm on my 4th Lotus. I bought an Excel when everyone was buying 924's. I bought 2 Esprits Turbos when everyone was buying 944's. My Elise R when could have bought an M3. I prefer and have always preferred buying Lotus. However, when you look at the sales figures, Lotus are not moving in an upward direction, far from it. I will always buy Lotus ahead of a Porsche but I'm in a minority. The sales figures indicate what people are prepared to buy. Perhaps one could even say that Lotus depends purely on those passionate for the brand as they seem incapable of developing and producing a suitable product for todays market. It saddens me. I would love to see the Exige V6 ripping the sh.t out of the Porsche market but its not going to happen for obvious reasons, not least the delays in getting it onto the market. Few people are prepared to wait for more than a year to buy a car. As Scuffers has said, the Evora was supposed to be the answer, now its the Exige V6. Its not going to happen. It saddens me to see all the hype following the announcements just dissapearing like spit in the rain.
