Advise on buying an Elise ?

I've not seen a definitive answer to that. It would almost be more interesting to know the truth for certain, but then where is the fun in that?
There are photographs of everything being weighed on one of the Lotus forums (not SELOC). Can't remember which one it is though. Think it was somebody swapping from leccy back to manual - something unusual. There's not a lot in it either way, but from the ones I saw weighed you definitely don't end up with a lighter car overall.
Brilliant marketing though, as it's one of the most repeated things I've seen about the Elise - despite the fact 99 per cent of people don't even appear to have seen any proof!
Shame Lotus hasn't been as efficient with the rest of its marketing / business since.

Well at least it's not like the TVR boys who share pictures of chassis with and without rust.....
