Just for information - Discovery Channel tonight features an Elise S1 on Wheeler Dealers. Interested to see just what they do with it.

Is it not an S2 they are doing tonight?

Not sure where he came up with the idea of making an Elise that would work on the track as well as the road!

Anyone know where he got the headwork done. Seems like an absolute bargain!

Yes it was an S2 K-series! Apologies for the misleading first post.
I didn't see the trailer but was told by a colleague that they were doing "a car exactly the same as mine". At least he had the colour right!

yes i thought 30bhp was a silly figer also it may have gone from 120 to 130 bhp but i also thought lotus did head work on the car to start with as i know from some one in the trade lotus buggered some heads up by taking to much of in the first place [ this is not much scope for porting what you do is make the valves better ]

One of my favorite episodes of WD this one, didn't realise the Elise had a proper flat floor.

I want one smile

There is no head work on the stock engine, only on the 135r. The heads in these are sometimes over skimmed exposing porosity and voids which can cause HGF. There is plenty of scope to improve the porting, but it is hokum to think you will see 30BHP from porting alone. If the head is properly done the most you would see is around 20BHP, cams can bring another 15-20 if properly timed.

I thought it was an optimistic gain from 'just' headwork. laugh

Amusing enough programme. Nice just to see what people think. Gave me my first insight into Hangar 111. Probably has to be taken for what it is, a programme for light entertainment, interesting to watch for the general public, but lacking in real depth. If it was that easy to add 30bhp I think everyone would be doing it. No doubt made a few people go out ant test one or even look to buy one. Good advert for the car.

Certainly an entertaining watch. I always get the impression that Mike is abit like a bull in a china shop. The way he put the reworked head on the front wing and slapped the headlight, if I was an owner of it I'd be getting abit annoyed with him.
