Picked up my car yesterday and it is all pretty straightforward but this morning I discovered a press button on either side of the steering column housing maybe halfway down.
Can anyone tell me what they are for?


ps Is there an owner manual for the Exile 350 as I didn't get one?

ops what is it with auto correct!! For Exile read exige and for ops read pps

The one on the right should be for the trip counter. it is on my Elise anyway. Not sure of the left one though.

Left side is Exhaust Valve Override, Right Side cycles the trip computer as mentioned above smile

I just took it for a spin and played with the buttons!
The exhaust valve didn't seem to make any difference in the noise, certainly nothing like the Evora one does (display said open/shut)
Is it just for power?

It should make quite a bit of difference at lower revs, but I don't think it is as pronounced a change as the Evora 400 - assuming the Sport 350 exhaust is the same as the Exige S I drove a few years back.

It'll sound the same at higher revs as the valve will always open up past 4000rpm or so.

If it doesn't it might be worth getting it checked to make sure it isn't seized open or shut.

I will check it again at low rev's

Just in case the car has the optional titanium exhaust, would that make a difference?

ps it is a 2016 car

Interesting, I thought the titanium option was introduced on the 380 Sport and is incompatible with the 350, due to them having different downpipes. Got a photo?

I have no idea what exhaust I have, but if it is titanium, the dealer forgot to mention it!
I was just trying to find a reason for not making a difference.
That said I will listen at low revs.
Neither myself nor my son could hear or feel any difference so it could be at fault.

It should be very clear going from Tour to Sport mode at idle.

Sorry I misread your Titanium comment as you saying you had one. Ignore my first reply in that case. FYI they still have a valve

The valve actuator solenoids have been known to fail due to water ingress (indeed my old V6S suffered from this), but if your is a Sport 350 (louvred rear hatch instead of glass) then this particular solenoid was deleted going from V6S > Sport 350 to something less prone to issues.

Good tip RE: noise cancelling earphones in your other thread, by the way. I have been put off in my V6 Cup from doing this (no stereo of course) as I assumed they would filter out too much useful sound, but maybe I should try some.

I actually listened to Spotify wirelessly through my phone on the earplugs.
It was so weird having hands free phone, music, and later quietly listening to Radio 4 in an Exige!

When you say tour to sport mode, I was only in Tour the entire time.
Pouring with rain at the mo so fingers crossed tomorrow.
And apparently the dealer put the manual in the boot so I'll have a read!

Aside from the column switch, another easy way to check valve operation is to have the car parked up and idling and use the driving mode buttons to switch from Tour to Sport, as Tour has valve closed at idle, whereas Sport has the valve open at idle.
