Test drove an Evora 410 today and really enjoyed it. Felt like a step forward on my Sports Racer NA. However, even a one year old 410 is expensive - which puts it directly into competition with a four year old R8. I am inclined to stick with Lotus but my children are lobbying for an R8, though I am not sure they should have the casting vote! If anybody has any helpful advice on the pros and cons of a 410 vs an R8 that would be really helpful.

If you want a safe emotionless housewife who will do the cleaning and wash the dishes very efficiently and won`t ever let you don in these respects then go for the Audi. Her only upside is that she will be able to speak well.

I have an Evora S, but got to play with an R8 for a week.

I was pleased to have my car back.

R8 has a fantastic engine but IMO it didnt have a sense of occasion when you get into it and certainly is as nimble or communicative as the Evora. I did have an R8 itch that I wanted to scratch, that itch has now subsided, although the V10 engine is the only part of an R8 that would tempt me.

Having owned both (well, the Audi was a V10 Plus) the audi is more comfortable, faster, better appointed and an all around more usable car. Needed better tires though.

The Sport 410 has better steering and suspension, more engaging and most visceral.

I kept the Evora.

I replaced the Audi with an Aston Martin V12 Vantage S. Much happier with that combination.

Snap. smile

(Well, Evora 400)

Not driven the R8, but find the Evora pretty comfortable.

Thanks for the input.

I decided to change the Evora for an R8 V8 Spyder. Having now got used to the R8 I would say the pros and cons of the R8 compared to the Evora are as follows:

Pros
Much better built.
Stronic gear box is amazing. It can change from comfy cruiser mode to hooligan mode at the press of a button and shifts very fast in manual and sport mode.
V8 sounds better than the Evora, in my view
Looks good, though not as exotic as an Evora. Though it looks great with the roof off.
Very comfortable
Better infotainment.
Faster than my Evora NA but not as fast as the Evora 410 I was thinking of buying
It is nice having a convertible at times

Cons
Feels a much like any other audi at times. This is good and bad. It is good because it is very comfortable and easy to live with. It is bad because it is not as involving as the Lotus
Less exciting to drive than the Lotus
Uses much more fuel. Probably 10 mpg worse

They are both great cars. Ideally, I would own both an R8 for longer journeys and the Evora for Welsh back roads. Perhaps in another life!
