I just did a money supermarket quote out of curiosity. I put my real details and used 5000 miles and 5 years NCB. I'm 45 years old.

I put the 410 worth £70k, and the 430 worth £90k

This was the 410 result:

And this was the 430 result:

So slightly more expensive, but not significantly. These results are much more in line with what I'd expect.

Must be me then irked

And I'm 54 - can't be 5000 additional mileage - plus, my 410 quotes are lower than the ones you got.

I've run it through moneysupermarket just now as that's what you used.

410 sport £346.
430 Cup £2157

I'd understand it if both prices were high based on say my occupation or postcode or something. But this is just jester

That’s really strange isn’t it. It doesn’t make sense.

Are the systems clever enough to log if there have been 430’s stolen in your area hence loading the premium?

As you say it’s not logical at all. Esp as your 410 quote is reasonable.

A Cup is clearly racier than a Sport, with corresponding ownership demographic and accident statistics.

I guess the modern systems could be that clever, but it’d be harsh to have a such a premium loading. I mean, there are hardly any 430’s in the whole country in comparison to most cars, so surely there couldn’t be more than one which was stolen in Ziggys area???

Maybe ziggy could edit the quote with a completely different address miles away and all other details identical, just to see if that makes a difference.

Who knows! Can't see it myself but you never know I suppose. Well, looks like it's a 410 then. I.m going to run an Evora 410 and a 430 through to see if I get a similar result

Using moneysupermarket.com I've just run an Evora 410 Sport and an Evora GT430 Sport through.

Evora 410 Sport £348
Evora GT430 Sport £349.21

And that's with the GT430 at a higher value than the one I was using on the Cup.

Confused? You will be!

I've just changed the address to that of my late parents. 100 miles away from me near BRADFORD of all places with a BD19 postcode.

I ran both the Exige 410 Sport and the 430 Cup through

410 Sport £683.30p
430 Cup £756.31p

So the Sport up nearly double on the £346 quote I got at my home address clearly due to the BD postcode. The Cup massively down and in line with the Sport at a BD postcode.

So er, er, headache

I had already considered that. But I reckon my Evora is worth about 45K - This looks very nice but not more than double bubble money nice.

Or, I could move to Bradford hehe

How frustrating. There’s obviously some weird anomaly with the specific set of circumstances for a 430 at your address.

Unfortunately I doubt you’d have much luck trying to explain it all to a human being at a big insurance company and getting a satisfactory resolution.

The other option is to get a quote from a specialist broker like Classicline. You immediately get through to a real person and in my experience they’ve been helpful and knowledgable.

Thanks. Just tried to put the Cup through for a quote on their website. Unable to quote online due to the specialist nature of your vehicle.

I'll give them a bell tomorrow.

Hi Paul,
Sorry to use you as my personal Exige expert advisor - any advice on how to use the lithium battery conditioner/ maintainer without setting the alarm off?! Tried leaving the car both locked and unlocked (albeit with the boot open) but it went off and both times after leaving it for a minute or so...any tips welcomed! Thank you.

May be worth giving Manning a try. They seem to insure quite a lot of the Lotus community. I went with them after they gave a good quote on my Exige, albeit not a cup! No extra for a couple of mods either which was a pleasant surprise.

No, problem, always happy to help.

When i put mine on charge, i run the cable out of the boot, but the fully close it so that the 'boot closed' switch is made. This allows everything to sit there as normal with no issues.

What's weird is that you have issues not locking the car too. When doing this, have you unlocked and re-locked the car without opening a door? If you don't open a door the car will automatically re-lock itself after a period of time and arm the alarm.

In summary, I'd try either a) closing the boot fully, or b) unlock car, open a door, put car on charge, close door, and then just lock the doors manually with the key but don't set the alarm with the fob.
