This is a quiet forum PH!

My son has a job offer at Accenture, nice looking offices, expensive to live close it looks.

Where which is probably walk or cycleable, if that’s a word, is good to live? His GF will go with him, so not really room share “anywhere will do” these days.

Renting at first as you’d expect, but could be long term with an employer like that, finding somewhere they’ll likely live and sprog would be good.

Eta, looks like it's Dublin 4, so not quite 2 if it makes a difference for public transport and the like.

Dublin 4 is one of the most expensive places to live/rent. Dublin 2 or 1 has some expensive places too, but some not so great places also. D1/2 is essential the city centre, so it is a lifestyle (and budget) choice. My last overseas hire decided to live in D1 and the rental cost was eye-watering.

To help with any website rental viewing, Dublin can be split by the River Liffey, the North side Is denoted by Dublin 1, 3, 5, etc and the South side is Dublin, 2, 4, 6 etc. The higher the number, the further it is from the city centre (general rule, but not always the case)

I'm sure Accenture have a relocation team to help, but drop me a DM is you/son want to have a chat. I'm very familiar with initial relocation challenges due to nature of my work.

Accenture's offices are mainly around Grand Canal Street and Square.

There is a train station (DART) on Barrow Street which is very close to one of their buildings. The service is regular and reliable. This would open up many areas around Dublin Bay. There are also good segregated cycle lanes along the Grand Canal passing through some nice neighbourhoods but in a different direction to the DART. As mentioned, Dublin is very expensive so they'll need to do some research.

As a starter suggestion, Portobello is an interesting area which might appeal to them. 25 minute walk, 10 minute cycle along the canal. Dublin has an on-street bike rental programme which has normal and electric options. There is also GoCar for very short term car/van rentals.
