Hi. I've just made the MBE recommended lead (with the 2 resistors) and got a serial to USB lead to use this software, and initially it wouldn't work, but plugging it straight into the serial port it works fine. Is the MBE lead not needed then?

By the way, I don't have the 3 pin output, hence using the serial connection directly.

Hope that makes sense, and it does work, I'm just a bit confused about the MBE recommended lead?

Thanks
Phil
I think you'll find you are fine with a Cerb 4.2 & Ollie's Diagnostic Software- The "connection info" was directed for those with Speed Six MBE's??

Yep, just a regular serial lead is all that's needed. The MBE lead is for programming with Easimap on a standard ECU and that doesn't work on the TVR MBE.

Absolutely no problems with software. Worked first time. Immediately solved my MIL light problem. Turned out to be a throttle pot connector.. Problem solved by wiggling the harness till I found the point where the throttle pot indicator on Olli's software turned green!
Using Windows 7 64bit with USB to serial converter on Cerbera AJP 4.2
Great work Olli. Thanks very much. The specialist who looked at it wanted to install a new harness, so you saved me a packet.
Thanks also to other PH post with ebay source for new TP connectors.

Hi Ollie,

As many others have said, your program looks great! Well done.

I am using a MAC laptop running OS X version 10.9.5 (Mavericks) - I downloaded the MBETool but it won't run on the Mac... guess you know that already lol - any plans for a Mac version?

Thanks!
Don

i use also mac's and on my mbp and i have a second partiton with win 7, so olli's tool works perfect with the right usb/rs232 adapter and the data-cable.

and olli wrote in the german tvr-forum "there will be NO mac version".

okay so I've downloaded this onto my work laptop with Win7 home edition, bought a cable off the classifieds and downloaded drivers to make it work (no yellow "!" on device manager).

Switched ignition on and disabled immobiliser.

Opened the diag tool and selected the COM port which popped up in the box but now it hangs on "Searching for MBE ECU" in the status bar.

Popped open the cable case and all seems wired up correctly but not sure what to check next?!

Car is a 2003 T350, any help gratefully appreciated.

Does anyone have a link to the cable that I need to use for this software. I'm familiar with the prolific USB cable because I've used that before. Sorry for the obvious question but I can't seem to find it.

My throttle bodies seem to keep going out of balance.

Cheers,

Andy

For any Mac / OS X users out there, the VMware Fusion application allows you to run windows and windows programs within their own environment without having to dual boot your hard drive. I run numerous ECU tuning programs that are / were never available for Mac's quite happily using this and can swipe between them & OS X with ease. Might be worth a look for you if you have any other programs too.

Got one left on ebay for £22.50 if anyone's still looking. Could make up some more if there's interest.

Apologies for lack of knowledge of things electrical, but I need to find out quite quickly which lead I should buy to connect to a USB port. I have the TVR-part MBE to serial 9pin lead. Looking at RS-online, they have different flavours of RS232 leads, eg rated 0 volts or 5 volts output, and one other type. Does it matter which one I get? Thanks

Seems expensive, I use a £1.99 one from ebay and it works fine.

I think some of the cheaper ones where a bit of a lottery, great if you have found one which works... Either way not the end of the world to get into the ecu!

Hi, I'm a complete novice at this...

I downloaded Ollie's programme version 0.95 but it's not finding a port. I've read through the thread and tried running the programme as an administrator. I'm assuming I don't have to be connected to the car to do that? I've still to sort the connection but there are enough useful posts to help me on that, I hope.
Any ideas welcome.....PC is HP Windows 7 Pro 64bit
