Been having to use 95 a bit recently and the car has been running very rich. Since being able to get some optimax I think I’ve noticed less of a smell of fuel.

Is it plausible that with 95 not being mapped for the set up that it was sucking more fuel or is this a silly theory and I should press on replacing the lamdas etc?

Sorry can't answer specific to Syvecs but I am going to go for the new MBE because it continually alters mixture and timing settings , I believe the Syvecs is limited in that once it detects a knock it backs the mixture off to a safe setting and locks it there until the ECU is reset. Safe means rich.

I may be wrong in my understanding but I believe this is the main reason the new MBE is used with knock sensing and wide band lambda as the upgrade de jour!

Your wrong, the syvecs ECU is a brilliant piece of kit with full closed loop active control strategies.

What the ECU does will depend on how it is mapped. You have the facility to look at your map and take log files to show you what it is doing.

To be honest, I think the only discernible difference between Syvecs and MBE is that the former is not sold by bad mouthing the alternatives by the vendors.

Connect the PC with Syvecs ECU Software to check the fueling. The ECU will adjust fueling based on the sensors and maybe one of the sensors has problem ? Much of the fueling is based on the coolant temperature sensor. If the ECU was setup with 98 octane and you are using 95 octane, the ECU will adjust ignition timing if you have a knock sensor installed. The amount of injected fuel is not based on the octane rate, but the octane rate will influence the burn rate (speed). This is why ignition advance timing needs to be reduced a few degrees when using lower octane fuel.

No Problem.

The ECU is basically using the same architecture as a full blown LMP life racing system. It's has huge functionality for an ECU offered to the road car market.

Add to this that you connect to syvecs using a cat 5 cable, so don’t have to faff about with proprietary cables, and anyone can map it. It’s not locked down to the only tvr dealer supplying the MBE “upgrade” either.
