Hi! I asked this question in the Tuscan section, but perhaps it fits better here.

I've owned and restored a Griff 500 here in Sweden for a few years now, I've decided it's time to switch to a Tuscan and I'm planning to import a car from the UK. Perhaps I need to hurry, don't know what will happen after the final Brexit date that is said to be in March 2019.

My question is actually if you think there are any driveability downsides in a factory Red Rose car. I know that the Red Rose option included 20 more hp among with some chassis upgrades. The extra hp was gained by higher compression, adjusted cam timing and perhaps something more, correct? How does this affect driveability at lower speeds I wonder; rough low rev behaviour, shunting etc?

Thanks!
Stefan

Personally - I don't think there are any. Mine was perfectly well mannered in all situations once warmed up.

I'm not sure they ever had raised compression? The RR and S models had around 2 deg more ignition advance so I doubt they increased the compression as well. Is there a different piston for the S/RR models?

Engine related mods as far as I was aware were
revised cam timing (same cams), larger bore exhaust (but only once past the gearbox ? can't remember now but some cars definitely have a step up in bore size down the centre tunnel) , higher flow injectors and revised mapping.

They were (i believe) supposed to have a larger bore exhaust manifold but I've never seen one. There are catalyst dimension differences on some models but they're tiny and insignificant in hp terms. Why they did it I don't know.

Not sure in the real world you'd ever really tell much of a difference especially more so now the cars have aged .. they were definitely more powerful by around 20hp as you say, but drivability seems to vary more on setup / maintenance rather than basic spec.

Although the S spec cars will command a higher price, you can get more power than an S with a few tweaks at less than the difference in value.
