Hi folks, just wondering if anyone can confirm if I have the decat chip installed or not?

Assuming it would go into the EPROM socket on the board, just not sure what it looks like / what would be written on it...

Ok, confirmed my chip (photographed earlier) is indeed the stock map.

I've now ordered a decat chip. I assume it's just a case of:

Remove ECU and swapping the EPROMs out
ECU back together
Starting the car
Short drive to warm up
Reset adaptives

All done? Have I missed anything?
Do you need to reset the throttle pots etc too?

Out of curiosity what made you think you needed the decat chip?

I always thought mine really banged and popped an awful lot. Also had a feeling it had a bit of a flat spot around 5k, though just occasionally.

Then reading there was one available, and then reading more of the advantages:

I thought £150 for 30bhp + smoother running and likely better economy, I felt it was a no-brainer

I think that is also the difference between a "bespoke" map and a std. map , not only catted and decatted map.

It would be interesting to read your feed back pre and post chip under the same conditions if you could?
