Excellent - thanks for the info on suitable micro SD cards. I'll try the Sandisk high endurance one this time. It's only a fiver more.
Try here £27 if they're in stock.Do not buy a BlackVue camera. Just don't bother.
I spent £350 on mine in August 2016. It's now broken. Completely.
Started off with the footage recording funny, whittled it down to the camera being at fault. Decided I would live with it as I can't afford to buy a new one. Now the camera is restarting multiple times a journey. No reason for it. PMP was set to 11.4V or whatever it was, then I decided to change it to 12V but its still restarting.
I expected a £300+ dash cam to last longer than this.

Seconded, mine started to speak Korean and smoke, trying to pull the cable out I burned myself, so I swiftly pulled over (from 70mph) and ripped the power out before it caught fire. Quality item.I spent £350 on mine in August 2016. It's now broken. Completely.

looked at DR750S but its too large and expensive.
I don't mind paying out £300 for a dashcam, but not in a convertible car. Does everyone remove their dashcams whenever they leave the car. I don't think I've have the willpower or the memory to do that.
Its either got to be cheap such that I don't care. Currently have a £30 jobbie that's been running fine in the car for the last two years, without a hitch, or its got to integrate with the car (be hidden). I guess I'm back to the cheap version or looking to modify the binnacle behind the rear view again

I have the one on the Tiguan recording all the time. The only problem is it only saves around 2 hours of footage, so if I'm longer than that and something minor happens then it'll be lost. Or i can manually put it on parking mode.
I've bought a seperate camera for the rear, which I'll do the same. Shame I don't have side ones as it would have caught the person putting shopping trolleys on the side of my car, rather than just the front camera. (Full post over in "things that annoy you beyond reason")
Whilst I think about it, anyone took the trim from the boot lid and the roof lining from the new Tiguan?
And should the angle of the rear camera just look straight out or down a bit?

Morning all,
Anyone bought Techmoans recommended Aukey DR02D recently? The included links on their site shows Amazon aren't selling it at the moment and I'd rather buy from a 'trusted' site.
Cheers

Both cameras should point down, the best ratio is 1/3rd sky, the rest road/bonnet. It helps to keep the exposure correct.I've bought a seperate camera for the rear, which I'll do the same. If you're footage is overwriting itself, sounds like you just need a bigger memory card.

Trim comes off really easy on the rear - it's 2 pieces. First, take off the plastic trim which holds the headliner in place, you need this off to be able to grab the cable once fed through the rubber conduit. Once this is off, headliner will have room on it for you to be able to send the cable from the rear, to the front passenger side door, and then down to the fusebox located behind the passenger side glovebox (A pillar will need to come off too). Second piece is the plastic trim surround under your high level brake light - that pops off, use a plastic trim tool to remove carefully. Once done so, you will need to prise the rubber conduit mounts out of the body of the vehicle and the retrospective boot lid. It's worthwhile popping your head under the headliner to see how these come apart, as if you do it without feeling/seeing the clip, you will break the little plastic connector that keeps the water tight seal around the conduit. If i remember correctly, you will be looking to prise from the left on the conduit connection on bootlid, and from the right on the conduit connection on body.
Camera should be angled as so below once fitted, with a slight angle pointing down. Every camera is different, but general rule of thumb is the wiper blade should be the first line (base) of your image.
Thanks, Jay

That's great thanks, I have a 32GB and it doesn't support a larger card unfortunately If you're footage is overwriting itself, sounds like you just need a bigger memory card.

Picking up my new car tomorrow and think a Dash can is a must, I’ve done a little bit of reading (plus made another thread on here) and I can’t make my mind up on what would be the best offering to meet my needs.
Ideally I want the camera to be discreet, so either a mirror type or something that’s compact and not obstructive in the front view.
From what I’ve seen the mirror type, although a great idea look HUGE when fitted, I’m only getting a small car so would be worried that it simply looks ridiculous so I guess that rules out that.
So I’m thinking something that can be fitted nice and neatly both front and rear, the offerings from BlackVue look great... unfortunately their prices do not the 4K offering (900) is over £400 which just sounds crazy to me.... and that’s before buying any of the additional kit required to hardware it....
Would anyone be able to offer a more cost friendly alternative to the BlackVue but with a similar level of features?
Thanks,
