Does the blue LED switch on when you're in motion? It's next to the amber LED.

If it doesn't, I would consider returning it.

Halfords are currently doing a offer were you get 20% off any Nextbase dash cam when you trade in your old one.

My old one (few pages back) hasn't been in my window since it kept falling off. They had a Nextbase 412GW for £103. Swapped my old one with my step dads cheaper one and got my 20% off. Bit of a cock up with the discount and ended up paying £97 for the dash cam and the hardwire kit that should have been £20.

Don't think its too bad! I know some say Nextbase aren't the best and its a bit of paying for the brand, but all the ones I've seen its been perfect (and I don't like waiting for things to turn up in the post...).

Installing it tomorrow smile

Well that was a faff to install. The kit itself was easy, however hiding the cables was a right pain in the arse! Door seal ended up becoming longer than it started with...ended up having to cut an inch or so off and standing on the sodding thing.

However, good bit of kit! Works great, fantastic detail.

Anyone have experience of how long the parking mode on the Blackvue DR-750s 2CH actually lasts just running on a good condition, fully charged car battery? Also any experience of any of the battery packs you can buy and how long these last?

My car can be left parked up (in the street) for days at a time, for instance it was used on Friday night and hasn't been moved/started since, and won't be again until the weekend - I'm hoping that in the lowest power parking mode these have will be able to last a few days, maybe with an external battery pack as well as a battery manager/cut off like the blackvue power magic pro, but if they will only last a day or 2 max then I'll have to rethink as the cost to get a day or 2's parking mode is going to be horrific vs dual channel cam without parking mode. If I need a battery pack and power magic pro you're looking at close to £600 total, whereas something like an Aukey DR02D is £100...

Cheers!

Since the end of the warm summer, my magic pro box is cutting out overnight as I seem to have reached the minimum voltage set (12v).

I believe my car has a 2nd battery, one for the accessories (dashboard, radio, etc) which may not be in tip top condition, so I need to decide whether to replace that think or invest in the BlackVue battery pack. Both are expensive.

Do you regularly do a drive long enough to fully recharge it?

Get your battery tested, you don't want to be going into winter with a failing one.

I do drive far enough to recharge but if the problem is with the accessories battery, I wouldn't be too bothered because the car services will continue to work.

However, it might be the main battery - starting isn't as instant as it used to be. I might just change it anyway. Pig of a job (it's under the driver's seat) but only about £100 to buy.

I was travelling south on the M42 earlier. I passed a gantry then a little later I saw the speed camera flash reflect off the van in front. Checked my speed - fairly sure I was spot on the posted speed but conscious that I may have drifted up by 3-5mph. I've heard that these new cameras (hanging off the sides of the gantries) don't have the old 10% (or whatever) tolerance for over-speeding.

Anyway, it spoiled the rest of my journey home but I was determined to check the GPS speed recorded by my BlackVue, and save the file in case of a nip.

Turns out the rear camera clearly showed me well past the gantry and the white line markers on the road, and that the flash was clearly the result of one of a group of cars some way behind me. And I was spot on the posted speed limit.

First time I've had cause to refer to the recordings but I'm more convinced than ever that they're a great investment.

Hi folks,

I'm looking for some dashcam recommendations please.

I've previously owned a mini 0906 but the battery died and it refused to work anymore (to the point where it'd just turn itself off even when connected up, engine on etc.)

I'm after a reliable dashcam for my leased Octy vRS which has a reliable parking mode without needing to be hardwired. There's been some car vandalism on my road recently and I'd like some peace of mind that I could catch any tt if they key my car.

Ideally I'm looking for a non-permanent type of set up so with a suction mount so I can remove at the end of the lease without all the issues I had with the mini 0906 which left all manner of sticky residue on the windscreen.

What do you think would be a decent choice? Budget would be ideally under £100 but willing to pay more if required.

Cheers!

Right, I’ve stopped pissing about changing cars every two minutes so it’s time for me to buy a dash cam for the new motor. I’ve asked these questions before but it’s been a while.

I’m after a dual camera setup, ideally without a screen on the front one. The Thinkware F770 seems to fit the bill. Any other alternatives? The F770 is around £220 and seems to be well built.

Does anyone have experience of hardwiring a dashcam to a GM era Saab? The car in question is a 2008 Saab 9-3 Aero Sportwagon. Shedtastic!

I have an F800 Pro but the F770 should be fine. You may find this useful https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/new-uk-think...

Goluk T1/T2 & Blackvue DR750S also worth a look but if you want to use parking mode over a long period with them you will also need to budget for a battery regulator of some kind (e.g. Blackvue PowerMagic Pro or similar). It is integral in the Thinkware.

Brilliant, thanks. Looks like the F770 is the one for me.

Hello all, don't normally visit this area so apologies if I ask for something already answered.

Right,

Looking for a small dashcam like those 'bullet' shaped ones. Want it as inconspicuous as possible so trying to avoid a large bracket. Don't need a screen, just a fit and forget type.

Would like some sort of upload facility via wifi to either my phone or some sort of cloud based thingy that I can access remotely. Would also like to add a rear camera at a later date so I'm not sure if they have to be compatible with one another? Total newbie to this and have no idea about what constitutes a good brand.

Don't want to go mega expensive and thinking about the £150 mark but cheaper if poss.

Ta!

I was sold on that dashcam till I realised that it's limited to the onboard memory, no sd card and only 32gb of memory means it won't record much before over writing.
With prices now so low for memory 128gb is the minimum amount of storage to go for.

Storage is cheap so I see your point but I do wonder just how may hours of driving you want to retain before re-write, I think I get 4 hours at 1080 on a 32GB card.

Yeah I think the 1600P resolution can cause problems for microSD cards, that's why they use the builtin memory.

The ddpai mini 2 supports 128Gb cards if having a long recording history is important.

(i've no link with ddpai, just a happy customer of the mini 2)

So I’m looking to fit the camera to the new car where to position it etc and find this.

It appears to be a camera but there is no slot for a memory car and it looks to be factory fit.

No mention of forward camera in the manual at all can’t find any slots for a card

Mitsubishi shogun. Any ideas? I’ll have to call I to a main dealers I suppose just checking first

Might be something associated with lane assist, auto wipers or headlights. My wife's GLC has a camera for lane assist but it can't be used for dashcam purposes.
