Normal GT. Looking at being notified if parked up and someone knocks it. Thought about the Thinkware 770, any thoughts.
The Thinkware F770 is a great unit, but it's a bit like buying a plasma tv in the current era. It's now approaching 4 years of age & the technology, frames per second, bitrate quality, and features on board have all been surpassed by better more well equipped models. Plus, it doesn't have any sort of live cloud viewing pushed notifications ability, so if this is something you desire, look straight at the Blackvue's (DR750S or 4K DR900S).If you need any more information on either of them, drop me an email. I can't seem to upload pictures on here to give you an idea of how it looks once fitted, but can send you some via email.
Thanks, Jay

DR900S does look good, but the lack of internal power management for parking mode might put me off. This is one feature which the Thinkware has an elegant solution for and works very well.
No denying the Blackvue's don't have internal power management, but that's easily fixed by the purchase of a £29.99 device called the Blackvue Power Magic Pro. I wouldn't let £30 deter anybody from buying currently the best dash camera on the market. Dash-Cam Man said:

Yes aware of the magic pro, but it's a separate box that needs to mounted somewhere. Although it has a physical power switch I guess there's no need for it to be visible/accessible, it's not a particularly good looking unit. I wouldn't write off a DR900S purchase in the future, its just a feature where the Thinkware is better.Nothing much to add here chaps apart from Ive had an A118-c fitted to my car for about 2 years. In that time:
1. It failed to turn on with ignition, guesstimate 25 times in 2 years
2. Had a 'memory card full' error just once, formatted memory card and hasnt happened since.
Decent bit of kit, thankfully not needed it as evidence yet

My father in law in looking for a camera (probably front and rear) for his 2019 Macan - I'm really happy with my Aukey DR02 but know some cars are prone to DAB interference.
Before I recommend anything for him and end up even more of a black sheep loser does anyone have experience with the Macan and dash cams?
He's also likely to need someone in the Woking / Farnham area to supply in fit if anyone has any recommendations.

The new Macan is identical to the old Macan in terms of DAB modules, positioned in exactly the same place with exactly the same screws. Macan owners just by their sheer nature, don't tend to buy cheap units, so the Thinkware F770, F800's, Blackvue DR750S, DR900S that we only ever tend to find ourselves installing in these, never have any issues with the DAB. I don't know your area or any fitters up there, but I would recommend having a good search for a local fitter with good reviews. The installation isn't hard, so most installers should be able to tackle it with ease. If you find yourself in a situation where somebody can fit, but can't supply, give me a shout.
Thanks, Jay

They are down in Surrey so if you have any recommendations around Farnham (or Woking) or cover that area let me know

Massive sweeping statement and generalisation, but i've found that the majority of the people that run these try and goad you into doing something wrong by brake checking you or driving like complete spods themselves.
The ones you see uploading to YouTube perhaps but I'd suggest the majority of users don't even touch their camera unless something actually happens that they need to review. thetapeworm said:

I bought the Aukey one for £105 off Amazon it’s got front and rear cameras. Because it fixes to the screen flat the image is much more stable than the dangling ones. Easy to use good quality. It’s actually pretty decent
Unique car sound and security in lightwater are decent
Does anyone have any experience of the Mio MiVue 788 (front) & MiVue A20 (rear) camera?
I went to have the Aukey Dual Dash Cam fitted today to my Infiniti QX70, however the installer put me off fitting it. This was partially due to the cable from front to rear camera being so bulky and he would have had to cut some trim in the rear trunk area to install it. He recommended the Mio MiVue 788 & A20 or Blackvue, any suggestions or real life recommendations? Thanks... :-)

Just literally installed a Aukey into a Hyundai Tuscon less than 4 hours ago. Cable being chunky is a sign of quality, which means more insulation against potential DAB interference (if any). The right angled connector goes to the front, straight one to the back.
The customer didn’t have a SD card (left it at home) so the camera insisted on beeping every 2 seconds to warn of this, however this aside, unit seemed satisfactory for what the customer required which was simply an onboard witness when driving, with the camera coming on/off with ignition. No harder to fit than the other hundreds of dash cameras we fit.
Think the fitter is worrying about cable routing. A chunkier cable is harder to feed through the rubber conduits in the tailgate and harder to route the headliner, but as with anything, spend a little more time on it and all is achievable.
Thanks, Jay
