Hi all. Ive recently installed a xtrons stero into my Passat B6. Whenever i turn the lights on the stero dims as youd expect. Is there anyway i can alter it so that it dims when the headlights are on but remains at full brightness when side lights are on?

........... Or even better. Is there anyway i can make my sidelights on continuously? So they are on when my lights are both on and off?

biggrin Great. What i would like is;

Light switch off position - side lights on and stereo full brightness
Light switch headlight position - side lights and headlights on and stereo dimmed.

Please tell me how to do this. Thanks in advance

Although anything is possible I have come to the conclusion that you could end up in deep trouble by altering the sidelight wiring, there are electronics that could be damaged, hence I suggest you leave the sidelights circuit as is
As for the the radio illumination, you will need to find the sidelight/illumination wire that is connected to the back of the stereo, there is a very good chance that the wire is colour coded grey with a blue trace, I have no wiring diagram for your vehicle so am going on my memory here, once you have found the sidelight/illumination wire at the back of the stereo you need to disconnect it and run a wire directly from the side headlamp switch connecting that wire to the wire that becomes live when in the headlights on position, connect the other end of the wire to the terminal at the radio that you disconnected the sidelight/illumination wire from
