Hi,

I remember in the mid Naughties that Alpine made a very conservative looking head unit that worked with an iPod classic.
The joy of this particular model was that the cable came out the back so the iPod could be hidden somewhere.

I am looking for a DB7 and want a head unit that will not look too obnoxious in it and allow me to hide an iPod.

Does anyone know the Alpine model number so I can find one?
Does anyone have any other suggestions of something similar please.

Thanks.

Try the IDA-X100 - mine was excellent, good sound and trouble free.

Thanks, I also discovered the KCA-420i which allows any Ai Net head unit to run an ipod.

Hopefully the original head unit is Ai Net compatible, they had a changer so maybe.

I think Ai net is Alpine proprietary. Quite a few of their headunits have the rear iPod connection, the newer ones over USB, rather than than the the KC420i cable.

Hi, yes I was aware of that, the original Aston Martin DB7 head unit was either a Sony or an Alpine with a CD Changer so fingers crossed I can have the original stereo for the car with an iPod. That'd be a win. :-)

You might be looking for the

Alpine CDE-9850RI

This unit had a usb socket on a small tail at the rear, the RI in the model designation signified that the box also contained the IPOD flying lead.

I installed this unit into my Alfa Spider back in 2008 and routed the IPOD cable to the glovebox for a completely hidden look.

As an aside, it was a damn good unit, only left it in the car at sale time because the buyer paid extra.

Op. Did you solve this?

If not I have a couple of spare direct Ipod control head units in the loft from that era that had a wired connection so you could keep an old Ipod in the glovebox.

Hi, yes I did, I managed to find a NOS Alpine CD head unit and a KCA-420i adaptor on eBay so have the set up I need.
Thanks very much for looking though.
