I need a new Sat Nav to replace my trusty Garmin as it's going to my dad.

I've just seen that Garmin do a new combined unit with a built-in dash cam which looks rather splendid.

Has anyone got any experience of this unit and is it and good?

Model is DriveAssist 51.

Thanks.

Just got one a couple of weeks ago. Very easy to set up via the Garmin website, no problems downloading the usual numerous updates needed at set up. First impressions: dash cam works great on default settings with clear footage and no problems viewing the files on an ancient desktop PC.

Satnav is excellent - my '51' seems to have some useful POI's built in - McDonald's (emergency breakfast coffee, check), nearest hoon juice stations, supermarkets etc. and of course the usual clear Garmin maps and directions with full postcode. The only issue was not switching off the dashcam sound recording setting - first test proved I can't sing for mince and my musical taste is dubious - quickly switched this to mute! Not tried to pair my phone with the bluetooth as already have a handsfree set up.

Ultimately, the dashcam isn't something I'll use all the time but didn't want the hassle of having two separate devices being stuck to the windscreen and all the wiring trailing about.
