Hi folks, hoping to replace my old kenwood in my 944 with a modern Bluetooth USB thing....pulled the old stereo out and broke the fm antenna....have stripped it back and bought a new £1 antenna adaptor but can't figure out what I need to do....any help please?

Don't think that will go in the back of a car stereo will it? Needs to have a pointy end

Like that thing you are holding between your finger and thumb.

THats what I thought, but how do you connect them both, the plastic coating surrounding the thin wire won't fit in the tube of the connector.....I'm stumped

Would I be better with one of these to grip the outer cable?

You need to cut away some of that white translucent insulation to uncover some of the copper inner core.

But even then the thin metal bit won't stay inside the adapter....I somehow need to make the cable and adapter stick together

The adapter in your hand is exactly that, an adapter. Its for stereos that take differing inputs. It's not for terminating onto bare cable.

Your second, linked picture, looks like a proper terminal end to me. If so, that's what you need (would need to see other end to be 100% certain)

I see, starting to make sense now.....in that case what is the usual method of connecting up coaxial wire to a car stereo fm socket?
Cheers

You need a repair terminal. It will be obvious and easy when you have it in your hand. If you want it to work right now you can make it work without the plug but it will be very loose.
