Android Auto and speed camera alerts

Hi,

I’m soon to be getting a car win Android Auto/Apple Carplay and would like to know if any app gives audio or visual speed camera warnings.

I have both an Android and an iPhone.

I currently use google maps on Android with tomtom speeed camera overlay but I think the overlay won’t work on AA. Likewise, I don’t think Cyclops works on CarPlay

I’m loathe to use Waze on AA but I think this might be my only option.

Any other known work arounds are most welcome.

There's a quite good (and free) TomTom app on Android which gives alerts, not sure if/how it would work through Android Auto. I just leave it on on the background 24/7 and it shouts up if and when I pass a camera site. Also keeps track of your average speed in those zones which is quite good too.

There's an app called CamSam that I used to use on android. It can be run as an overlay or stand alone app and displays the speed limit on whatever road you're travelling on and bleeps or flashes when you approach a speed camera. Not sure if the overlay would work on AA though.

I now use Waze which has the functionality built in. Waze's search function and lane guidance isn't as good as google maps, but I find it better in all other respects.

That’s the tomtom app I refer to in my post above. It’s excellent but I’ve been told it won’t work with AA.

You only get the sound warning. Better than nothing but a screen notification would be great.

Has anyone else found any workarounds ?

I've never found on that works on mobile speed traps, has anyone got one?

Currently the only navigation apps "allowed" on Android Auto are Google Maps and Waze, so no CoPilot or TomTom etc.

Waze has speed camera warnings, and will notify of mobile cameras, if other Waze users have reported them.
