What do you use for Navigation these days.

I have a Galaxy 6 and I've been using Google Maps for a while. It really isn't great. Not bad on the more simple stuff but ask it to find a decent route through London. No chance.
It just seems to have no concept of fastest routes, roads that were supposed to be clear weren't. Always seems to go for the easiest route despite knowing the traffic is bad. Underestimates any delays that traffic will cause.
That kind of thing.
Are there any other Nav systems that might be worth putting on my phone. Or what else would you recommend.

How can they give you a nip if the phone is in a holder and you aren’t holding it? Damn it too long watching tele and not replying.
I dont use it to travel through London but Google maps is my usual 'go to' for nav. Took me to Epsom & back last week, 1hr 23min was predicted and it was spot on, both ways. It also gets me to Germany, Belgium and France a few times a year without issue and a 24 hour drive over 2 days to a tiny village in south Italy, saved me many traffic jams along the way.
Also I tend to use a phone holder rather than hold it in my hand the whole trip, saves the police bothering me and is more convenient.

The trouble with Waze IME is that it's far too keen to send you down a convoluted rat-run to try to save you 1 minute off your journey (that you'll probably lose trying to turn right back on to a busy road). London traffic is bad but often you're better off just waiting in a moving queue than attempting to get around it.
I use Apple Maps via CarPlay these days, it seems to have enough traffic info to make reasonable decisions about which way to go, a decent interface and recently got things like speed limits and lane guidance.

I used to use Google maps, but found Waze could save me up to 25 minutes a day on my south London commute (approx 1h each way down from 1h10).
I really like having the speed limit reminder in the corner of the screen on Waze - when driving in London I find a lot of limits are lower than you might expect, and then when outside of London it's often the opposite!
Waze's speed camera alerts are also useful but it's search function isn't nearly good as Google maps though.

Nonsense. I'm sure a few texters/surfers have tried and failed to get out of fines by claiming they're only using it for directions, but if you're using Waze/Gmaps in a proper phone cradle and not fiddling around with it then it's not illegal and you wouldn't get a fine.Been using Google maps to get me around the entire country for years. Never had an issue. Re routes bad traffic and always finds a faster alternative where it can.
Easy enough to plan trips on certain roads etc. My only gripe is it not displaying your GPS speed.
Used Waze a few times but dont like the interface. Prettt sure Google bought waze a few years ago though.

Even if I go on routes I know I like to have the TomTom on - still fascinates me how its initial estimation of my arrival time is nearly always spot on.
