I'm trying to find something that would have been fitted as an aftermarket accessory alarm at the time my MR2 was new, circa 1988. Typically, the only ones that seem to be still available are the ones that were unreliable, even then. Ideally I'd have a Scorpion or Laserline and have it operating the central locking, but I'm struggling to find anything like that. Any ideas where to look?

You want an old MOSS or Sparkrite system hehe
Probably best to set up an alert on eBay for any new listings matching those words, or keep an eye on FB Marketplace.

Personally I wouldn’t bother

Everyone I know who has dabbled in alarms has had issues

It's more to get remote central locking rather than an alarm. I don't want something modern on it though.

I install Cobra/Vodafone alarms, never had any issues, they are very reliable if installed correctly.

The Toad ai606 is a relatively retro cat 1 alarm immobiliser that is simple and effective.
I'd actively avoid Clifford.

All the cliffords i had were excellent, I had a piranha alar that was rubbish and a cobra which failed and immobilised the car!

I had a Getronic GT35 in my Corrado, from looking at the history, I think that was installed in the early 90's.

It was a piece of crap, and all parts were long since NLA.

Get a Toad/Cobra and just get some vintage style window stickers made up for that retro feel.
