Woke up to find my trusty Tom Tom Speed Camera app has been replaced with Tom Tom Amigo.
Has anyone got any experience with it. I'm guessing its a Beta version.
I liked the original, so I'll have to get used to this one.

Does navigation as well now pitching it towards a Waze type of offering looks interesting

Speed Camera app was excellent. No navigation function but would run perfectly in the background with Google maps with the dispay shadowed on top of the map. Limits were always correct and it worked perfectly for average speed sections (i.e. motorway roadworks).

AmiGO is rubbish. Many limits are incorrect. Approaching a camera frequently find that the voice gives a different limit to the display and either may be wrong. Average speed sections of motorway roadworks are ALWAYS wrong.

It's a massive backwards step!

I have to agree with all of that.
A step backwards.
I really don't like Waze though.
Suppose I'll have to persevere!

The problem I have with WAZE is that you only get audible warnings for cameras if you're over the limit.

I like Google maps for navigating but there's no audible warning for cameras, although they are shown on the map. Also you can't use Google maps unless you actualy navigate somewhere. There use to be a "driving" option which kept the map on the screen without directions but this has now been removed.

What I want is what the original TomTom Speed Camera App provided - audible and visual camera alerts which are accurate and current along with averge speed zone monitoring. Any ideas if there's anything around which does this?

I use the the overlay for the Amigo app, on top of a full screen Waze, works well imo.

I travelled to Liverpool from Leeds today. Tom tom Amigo had every 50 average zone as a 40.

If that was on the M62, it's probably due to the amount of reports of people getting tickets for 'just over' the limit.

I suppose they were expecting more of a leeway...for example on the M6 cars will sit at just under 60mph as long as there isn't another car sitting at spot on 50mph - but that then brings the issue of an artic sitting behind 1m off their rear bumper with 400 headlights trying to melt them out of the way.

What would you say 'Just over the limit is?
I had 53 on my tomtom (55 on my speedo) all the way through and was constantly overtaken.

What people report being 'done at just over the limit' is not necessarily what they were actually doing...but we've seen apocryphal posts on here of people getting multiple tickets for some stretches claiming they were only only doing 53-55mph!!!

If that was on their speedo, then I'm very surprised as that's probably 49-53mph in real life.

Yes, I've done my thing ever since Average limits were introduced. Never had a problem, and have read of people going through at 10mph over never getting a ticket.
Professional drivers, reps HGV'S etc. seem to know the score!
And cars do pass me all of the time.
Must admit though, if there is anyone actually
working at the roadside, I dont do it. However that is very rare!
I read in social media that the leeway has been reduced because of zero revenue, due to lockdown. But I read all sorts of st on there which is mostly untrue?
