HELP!! Can I put a new head unit in Audi A4 B8

I have an Audi A4 b8 2008 model
It currently has 2g high meaning no ami in the glovebox no aux but satnav
I wanted to know if I could get a newer head unit to replace the current one and still have functionality of the controls
Also would it be possible to get one that stands out of the dashboard if not then just a modern one with the functions of the controls
