Waze app (on android) and speed camera alerts

Thank god it doesn't warn if you're under the limit IMO, with the number of cameras around it would be a real chore for motorway driving if it triggered just because there was a camera which wasn't going to affect you anyway.
I think there should be an option to at least have it alert you if you aren't speeding, much better if driving in places you aren't knowledgeable of. TyrannosauRoss Lex said:

I had the same issue a while ago. I ended up using waze with Tom Tom running in overlay mode. Or just running Tom Tom in the background when on Android auto with the Tom Tom playing through phone speaker. Tom Tom is good as it can verbalise your average speed in average camera zones.

I'll have a look at that!
Edit - is the app called "TomTom GO Navigation"?

Ah, I thought you meant "it SHOULD be a user-configurable option"....it is not an option, I have spoken to Waze.

Just downloaded, appreciate it's a pay-for subscription, £20/year....If it is good for speed cameras I'd happily pay that. Does it alert you for speed cameras if you have no destination set? So if I'm driving down a motorway with average speed cameras, would it still alert me?Many thanks!
I'd like some sort of audio signal warning that you are heading towards a camera even if you're not over the limit, but the signal tone could change if you're over the limit, with changing pitch or frequency of beeps - so that you don't have to take your eyes off the road. Years ago in the days before smartphones I used to have a little grey box with an LCD screen and flashing red lights which did something similar - although you had to connect it to your computer to get updates and so it couldn't tell you about temporary speed traps.
Somewhat OT but what does it actually cost to use Waze?
What I found online is, "Continuous usage could use a lot of data. The amount of data used by Waze may differ from one device to another. It depends on the route taken and its length, map(s) downloaded, time of the day, day of the week, number of reports and traffic, number of active drivers, among other factors."

TomTom amigo’s the one you want.
Nice one thanks! Does this give you audio warnings if not setting a destination, and running in the background?

I have unlimited data these days, but in a previous role (around 4 years ago) I was using Waze probably every other day for 1-3 hour journeys, combined with the usual stuff at the destination, I never went over my (then) 16GB data allowance. Don't know the actual usage, but thought that might help!
