I was travelling on the inside lane at 40mph, as were the cars in front of and behind me, it's normal for the outside lane to have cars and delivery lorries parked on it.....

It gets to my turn to be undertaken......

Approaching the next roundabout the road's split into three lanes and I'm on the inside lane for turning right
Hold on....you at traveling on the inside lane because the outside lane is obstructed by parked cars and lorries ? The outside lane ??

Then a bloke in an X3 tries to undertake you ? But you are already on the inside lane - is the X3 bloke trying to undertake you on the pavement ?

Then you are on the inside lane at the traffic island ready to turn right ? Really ?

All very odd.....
Lane one and lane two would have been a clearer description of the incident.

One of the satisfactions from advanced driving is saving other drivers from themselves without them even knowing. Entering into their idea of rules of the road, or 'I'll show you' attitude is futile, any idiot can drive badly but two idiots driving badly is sure to end in tears.

I would argue that these situations are less about advanced driving, which, on other threads, has been somewhat diluted, and more about common sense and self preservation.

Always avoid RR and console yourself that it is only a matter of time before these knobs try it on with another pyscho.

Get involved and you will either be hurt or inflict the hurt. in which case the justice system will inflict the hurt right back at you.

Okay, I got the terminology wrong but you already know that.
Replace inside lane with right lane or overtaking lane.
So you were in the outside lane not the inside lane ... which side of the road were you on ? Did you not notice you were driving into oncoming traffic ? Which country were you in ?
Can you really not work it out?The OP even says "dual carriageway" to help out the hard-of-thinking such as yourself.

To the OP about the actual event , not the usual PH nit-pitcking , the only thing you did "wrong" as such was to be in the blind spot of another vehicle , whether you put yourself there or the other driver puts you there. Just try to make sure you are either fully alongside and visible , or drop back a bit so that when the other driver does something dumb , which they will , there is a gap for them to be dumb into. Also , seeing an X3 should make you naturally wary , there are few other cars driven so poorly apart from Corsas and Minis.
