This is by no means a new ‘thing’! I’ve encountered it for years. My way to ensure a safe overtake is not to gain on them too fast, make sure there is enough road and then make sure I’m in a low enough gear to get past before they even notice!
Far too many people these days seem to think that elephant racing is the correct way to overtake!
