As an advanced rider / driver we are trying to be "smooth, safe and systematic whilst making progress according to road and weather conditions"...... so if you are doing this, your speed is good! (the classic "it depends" answer!!!)

I’d have taken their comment as no more than a ‘not all risks are ahead of you’ type comment and to be a little more conscious of traffic behind and what could happen when changing speed. You are driving/riding and it’s your life, so getting instruction just makes you aware of things you might overlook or not be so self aware, and once you know you can dial it in to the mix, maybe shedding speed earlier rather than maintaining higher speed in the bend in some situations and/or being more conscious of distance behind to traffic and not wanting them to have to brake for you mid corner etc Each corner is different.

Last time I had instruction I was picked up on how quickly I came off the brake, it surprised me, the application of brakes, throttle, steering input etc were all fine, but the un-application, if you will, I’d not given sufficient thought to, in part because I was already thinking of how to feed in the gas. I don’t think it’s uncommon for people to think less about braking than accelerating over and above maintaining grip.
