Stupid driving in Newbury

... ok, need to get this off my chest ...
In traffic, car comes from right lane into non-exsistant gap in front of me, no warning, he didn't even fit and had to wait at 45 degrees till traffic moved, why, cos he didn't want to join the back of the queue (about two cars behind me). Almost took my wing off, as I was just busy glancing in the mirror ... ahhh.
So, follow numpty at safe distance, turn left at lights and got loads of abuse from Audi behind (as I looked in mirror), presume 'cos I was obeying the speed limit.
So, head off back home, go slightly longer way to allow car to fully warm up, along 30 limit with speed tables, have to slow down for them as my suspension is quite firm and not that much travel (mini cooper - pls. don't laugh), numpty2 in focus overtakes at blistering speed almost airbourne over humps, catch him up at end of road, well, he gained one car on me.

Why ???
There seems to be an invisible peice of elastic that alot of drivers use. It pulls them right up to the car in front regardless of speed/conditions etc...
A friend of mine is an arwful driver and has written off their second car recently but will they sit back and think about their driving? No.
