I had a run out in this missile of a motor last night and the performance is absolutely searing. The conversion really looks the business and I'm now absolutely convinced if TVR built a car with this lump on board they would sell by the bucket load. Who can argue with huge power and virtually no engine work needed in 100k miles besides oil changes! The lazy power delivery is very similar to the Rover lump, so the character of the car is maintained, but now it packs a knockout punch.

:yikes:

Great job Jon, enjoy your monster! :D

No probs Steve (see you at the ACE next week?) - it is the NUTS - Ted will do a write up on it v.soon. This was without the ECU being given the Wortec treatment (in next few weeks)!

Form an orderly Q if you want one....!

Nice one.

It would be great if you could update your profile with all the details sometime though.

It does sound fabulous. How does the chassis/traction cope with all that power? I've read TVR thought the AJP in the Griff chassis was too much but I guess the LS has even more power albeit delivered differently. I agree, if this was produced by TVR there would be queues to buy one.

AJP is a rev'g lump (not my bag - partly why I did not get a Cerb) - chassis is absolutely fine with this is in - it is a really nice progressive surge of torque (and ALOT more of it) than the peaker RV8 - which has to be to get any (260ish) even reasonable power.

Absolute min of 140bhp over an average 500 and will be a good deal more once Wortec reprogramme it.

Ah, I see what you've done. All the car info is in your personal profile. I was referring to the car's profile which doesn't seem to have been updated.

I apologise for the somewhat incomprehensible dialogue displayed here - have just fed him 2 pints of shandy down the pub at lunchtime.

Yes, an awsome conversion, very professionally done. Just needs to be a bit louder

Proper V8 torque and power and RELIABLE.

If TVR put these in the Tuscan etc the orders would come flooding in and lots of previous customers that had left due to shit Speed 6 problems (I'm still hanging in there, just...) will return in droves....

cheers

Andy or any Speed Six owner who can get there bonnets open! - can you measure the distance on the inside of the Tuscan chassis rails.

For my next project.

If you want this lump, just buy a freakin Marcos!

But saying that, I cant wait to see jelly's beast!

Jelly make sure you get a pro dyno run done after the Wortec treatment and throw up the charts for all to dribble over!

Will be on Surrey RR most likely for final tune - apparently most get done loading the bade ecu with all the load vs rpm figures it needs on the road over a few moderate length journeys - modding after each - the rollers is just the final tweek.

Soon.

Just gained 18% in power on Mini today after a damn goo tune - can't wait to try that tomorrow.

Chassis was developed from the tuscan racer chassis and can handle up to 450 bhp IF its in good condition without problems. To which i can attest!

Johns does look the Mutts i must say and must sound fab too.

why not check it out in person, up against the other "Monsters". We have AJP, 5.3 RV8, Chevy, Turbo, Blown and my own Challenge engined car to put it up against.
check them out and pick your fave!

Absolutely with you there mate. I have long wanted to put a decent V8 in a T350C. When I have the dosh to do so, and a suitable car (ie: one with dead engine) comes up at the right price ... The LS seems to be an excellent choice, although I would also consider the Ford Cammer crate engine, though I haven't looked into this too deeply as I'm nowhere near being able to do this project yet.

Ah, the question of dosh...

Jon - would it be rude to ask how much one should budget for a conversion like this?
