Had a C30 T5 for a while. Great looking car and drove really well.

How is that engine in that car? I would have thought a D5 would suit it better?

No longer have the car as it was unfortunately written off while parked but I loved this old beast. As soon as I can, I’ll be in a P2 V70 again.

Can't comment on how a D5 would suit it as I can't abide diesels so wouldn't looked at or driven one. Not sure the D5 is available in this V60 anyway, none on Selekt and not listed as an option new?

The T5 and the 8-speed auto make this very, very like the 328i Touring with the 8-speed ZF that I traded so it was an easy move (it's also my 6th Volvo so nice to be back). Same power, pretty much the same size and very similar power delivery. Power is available from very low down and steady, even flow all the way through the box. BMW puts the power down slightly better but that's RWD for you, in 99% of every day driving it's an irrelevance.

My Volvo ‘journey’ started 3 years ago when I acquired a 940 turbo estate from a chap who had been planning to use it as a donor to build a turbo-brick. This reprieve proved to be temporary, and sadly, about this time last year it failed its MoT due to some rather extensive rust underneath.

Doing about 500 miles per week up and down between the South coast and the Midlands, I missed the comfortable gait of the 740, if not the thirst! I started looking for a modern diesel wagon. I toyed with getting an e-class, a CLS shooting brake, a Skoda Superb etc, but have ended up with another Volvo Estate, this time a 2017 V90 D4 Inscription:

It has the xenium and winter packs, and the blond leather interior really looks good against the magic blue paint. I think I’d rather have smaller (18”) wheels over the 20” 8-spokes for ride comfort, though they do fill the arches nicely.

So far, very pleased, trying to get my head around all the features, bells and whistles now.

Picked up this today as a run around. D5, manual, 07, 157k miles, fsh (although I'm a little doubtful as the dealer stamps look similar with a similar pen). Couple of issues, think a wheel bearing is going and the radio doesn't work. Apart from that everything works. Paid under a grand so really happy with it. So hard not to spend any money on it.
