So I've owned this V70 for just over 6 months now and I have to admit it's starting to grow on me. I bought as means of A to B with being left in car parks for 2 weeks at a time either at an airport or a harbour.
I've always preferred Saabs so I'm stil not a fan of the centre console and the general layout of of the interior aside from the instrument cluster. The dual climate controls only distributing cold air to passengers isn't cutting the mustard in the winter now.
The waning MPG isn't helping but could do with a fuel filter change and the dragging rear caliper being replaced.

All in all a very long way to come to terms with a car. It's taken me half a year but I'm fair chuffed I got it.

Likewise!

One of three Volvos I currently have but this sees action as the main family car and it's pretty good at it too in a 'huge, wafty, shrugs off various levels of abuse and trial by wife and kids with relative ease' sort of way. I bought it having had a similar one previous but it was crap so a 900 mile round trip to Wales ensued for this one and glad to say, it was worth the effort as thus far it's been pretty flawless despite being "just run in" at 215,000 miles. Doesn't get an easy life and has seen action off piste, which it's actually ok at too if you're brave / stupid.

This is my old barge, picked it up after an unexpected eBay win with its fair share of issues. I have had it for around 4 months and I am frighteningly smitten.

Done:
Shocks & Springs
Full stainless exhaust
New exhaust manifold
PCV overhaul
Induction kit
Wheels & Tyres
Steering wheel
Stereo & speakers
Fixed Odometer
Electric fan conversion
New belts and tensioner

To Do:
RUST!
Polybush chassis and drivetrain
Yes!!! That's lovely.

This whole thread is lovely... :-)

Agreed!

I looked at a white 240 with similar wheels a couple of years back but shat out in the end... or as the cool kids say "I didn't pull the trigger" and I've kinda regretted it since. Of all the Volvos I've had, I've never tried the RWD / proper stuff but I still find myself looking regularly.

Hard to get nice ones now given the banger boys, drifters and rust have all taken their toll on the number.

Coilovers now on and ride heights set. Pretty chuffed with how it looks and it rides quite nicely too considering!

Wheel refurb to gunmetal grey and new tyres once we’re closer to the salty roads being gone.

That looks suspiciously similar - blue velour interior? Thinking back, it was probably over 5yrs ago - it was for sale via a sort of smallish, classic car dealer via an auction, the name of which evades me. Again I'd be lying if I said where it was but definitely towards the north of England. I'm away to Google...

Edit: 99.9% sure it was Mathewson's in Yorkshire, website looks familiar. It was a D plate too,on those wheels so yes, I'd be amazed if that wasn't the car.

Love the Gul too. Had one a few years back but it was rough, in the end the restoration costs were prohibitive so I sold it to a guy from Newcastle who did a fantastic job restoring it. Its since disappeared.

It's the very same Davie. Was on ebay with pics of it by the seaside and then when it didn't sell went to Matthewsons. I think it went through once, didn't meet reserve, and then I bought it out of auction. Was probably over 5 years ago now and long before they got on the telly.

The Gul is an import but beggars can't be choosers. Plus it means its solid with no rust, although no history and tatty.

Nope 18s. But yes it's interesting with low pros and BCs.

My 2.4T parked up over New Years. 155k and counting now (10k with me) and lots of renovation work done. Currently faffing with driveshaft bolts - need to use gen Volvo ones rather than the crap the aftermarket shafts came with

Use it mainly for chucking mountain bike in the back.

Planning to run it to 200k and see where to go from there....

We are due to collect a new XC60 in white for Mrs Orse in march. Our first Volvo and looking forward to something different from what we had before. It’s a D4 awd inscription with the various packs so it’s got just about every option. Had a great deal and it seems great quality.

Any tips welcome.

Don't refer to it as "a tank" and don't tell everybody it's "bomb proof" as that's the domain of pre-88 RWD owners only.

Aside for that, new car and a nice one at that... enjoy!
