It was between this, an M340i and an E300e.
In the end the Volvo won the race as it was simple more interesting (didnt test drive any of them before committing).

Its faster than id imagined (live very close to the jura mountains in France), sounds more exciting, and ive used it in full electric more than i expected (covered 2000kms in 3 weeks, and averaged 3.5l/100kms or 80mpg (obviously you need to factor in electricity costs too, but the lack of hassle from having to fill up is nice too).

Everyone who i showed pictures to before i bought it, says it looks a lot better in person too.

(and no check engine lights yet!! (touch wood!))

Glad to be part of the Volvo family. bounce

My V40 D3 with the 5cyl engine. Sounded nice-ish for a diesel and a good commuter car, if a little stiff in R Design trim. Sadly written off a few months ago after being rear ended whilst stationary at a roundabout frown

For some time now I’ve been thinking of a full resto on my 850 t5 estate… it’s not done a 100k yet, virtually no rot, paintwork is dire the laquer coat is peeling everywhere…. It doesn’t have the same pull as the T5R or the R but genuine T5’s seem to be becoming more rare than their more sought after cousins… I know it wouldn’t be cheap but I’m so very tempted scratchchin

You will need very very deep pockets for a full resto on one of these, and to throw into the mix there are so many parts that are now obsolete on 850's

Good advice! Maybe throw some increased TLC at it then smile

Sadly not mine, but I was very surprised to come across this on my usual walk back from work. Made my day biggrin

I'd love one, but I don't think they were ever made in RHD (?)

Rare car, I always think they pretty much look exactly like the Maserati Biturbo of the same era.

Thanks, done a couple of tracks with it this year. Just hit 215,000 miles on her but saying that not much left that’s original.

I’ve had this since last autumn, XC90 Core T8 hybrid - been very impressed with it, though the media system is a bit dodgy at times!

Just washed my wife’s V60 CC Ultimate. Still think these are good looking cars.

My current 1998 V70 T5, with its younger garage mate (also a T5) sitting alongside. A slow fixer-upper project. Replaced the turbo, changed the box oil, redid the front suspension and engine mounts, new radiator and a few other bits and bobs. Just need to tackle the cosmetics and sort the horribly squeaky dash.
