it really is a very impressive suspension set up.
The Ohlins are adjustable too, but in the manual they reckon you should take it to the dealers to do this (back ones require a bit of trim removal from the boot)This was the best photo anyone got of me going round Anglesey circuit
but you can see how wet it was and why I decided to sleep in the (surprisingly comfortable) passenger seat rather than put a tent up
After a weekend (about 400 miles so far) I actually really like it. It's not just a dull modern Volvo with a big engine in it (looking at you T5 V40!).
- It really does handle very well (only a hint of understeer really, much less than an RS4).
- Makes a lovely straight 6 noise (similar to the M3/4).
- paddleshift works well, it is the best I've seen on a Vovlo but isn't as fast as the speed of change you get from something like the latest DSGs.
- it really has everything included. From the 80's tilt & slide to the electric fold down head restraints button (which I have absolutely no idea why you'd have other than to irritate any passengers in the back).
- Really is a good sleeper car. Capable of surprising even the most aggressively driven repmobiles. The only giveaway is those oversized wheels, and maybe that blue.
- Anyone that does know what it is will know how exclusive it is, it will be a very rare car.
I have very few negatives, one is that it doesn't feel that quick but I guess that's because I'm comparing it to M3s, RS4s, C63s and they all have a big power advantage, as well as costing more (if you compare like for like).
The only other negative would be that the excellent handling comes at the expense of the ride quality but the amazing seats (another Volvo thing) save it from being too crashy, and again, the ride is easily better than that of an RS4.
It really is a good mix of Volvo's best features with a splash of excitement. One of my favourite cars I've driven this year certainly.
Would put some pictures up but it looks identical to the blue one above.

Pity there is no 'Like' button !- It really does handle very well (only a hint of understeer really, much less than an RS4).

The performance has its moments, it is however too smooth for its own good and the speed is deceptive.
Its 0-60 times are great however and can annoy even top end stuff from a standing start, AWD has a great advantage in the poor weather against the likes of M3/C63 (lets forget the RS4 exists!)
Shows great potential for Polestar for a first effort, genuinely if I could afford one id have one as an everyday car.
If only that gearbox could have taken a bit more torque and they could have really given the established german brands a fright.
Rumours of a 380hp 2.0 with the 8speed box in the upcoming V40 polestar might be the car to do it, just it wont have that 6 pot noise.

As we shed weight and emissions then fewer cylinders with heavy turbos/superchargers is pretty much the performance sound of the future, whether you like it or not.the V60 Polestar sounds good but I wouldn't say it's any better or worse than, say an A45 AMG. Even Merc's 4.0 V8 (which will be it's performance staple) is essentially two A45 engines matted together.
If you end up in a 380BHP V40 then I doubt you'll care that it has a two less cylinders.

How is polestar ownership going.?
Just joining the clan, shook hands on a pre-Reg Rebel Blue this afternoon...
Excited.. Yep. It's very much jekyll and Hyde - moving the gearbox into sport certainly wakes something.
Will form a perfect pair with my S2k..

Still great! Have yet to see one in another (other than on a forum in the States). I'll look out next time I'm in the Lakes!Just joining the clan, shook hands on a pre-Reg Rebel Blue this afternoon...

Nice collection - eclectic .. but nice.
Jag was on my shortlist too, had enough of big diesel mercs - you end up in a box going comfortably from A2B with little or no involvement, and when you spend as much time travelling as I do - it becomes depressing after a while, so will mix it up with the polestar and then the train.
The OH doesn't drive so three cars would be somewhat excessive, but I have designs on her dad's landrover 90SWB.. ;-)
Only have a single garage - the S2K gets that - so it's on the drive for the polestar - cheaper insurance than the merc amazingly.
I'll put up some photo's when I get it..

Absolutely superb cars.
I see one with around 3-5k miles can be bought £33-35ish,. where do people think they'll be in a year or two? Obviously they cant keep drooping at this rate!
Want to bet? They'll probably depreciate very fast but bottom out and stay there for a long time, same as the V70R and S60R did and have.I see one with around 3-5k miles can be bought £33-35ish,. where do people think they'll be in a year or two? Obviously they cant keep drooping at this rate!

The question is at what price will they bottom out? I picked my S60R up when it was 4 years old with 56k miles on the clock for £6k, and that was for a car which cost £42k new! Granted I got it for trade money but that showed what it was worth to the trade, at that point in time. S60Rs are still hovering around the £4-5k mark for good examples, and we're now 7 years further down the road.I think there's no disputing that Volvo UK got it wrong with the initial pricing of the V60 Polestar LE and would have fewer cars languishing unsold at dealerships if they were more realistic. But at the end of the day, be it a limited edition car or not and despite Volvo's efforts to be seen as a premium brand, I cannot see it commanding a premium over the variants from other marques which it was priced against.
The V60 D6 Hybrid is probably the closest Volvo car in terms of limited numbers and price and they're booking in at just over £25k for year old examples, so the evidence suggests that the Polestars are going to be no different in terms of depreciation, to previous Volvo cars sold in that price range. I hope I'm wrong as I do see myself getting a V60 Polestar LE in the not to distant future, but I'm certainly not going to hold my breath!

Did they get the price wrong though?People cant have it all ways, spec up a V60 T6 and put in every feature that the polestar has from the standard Volvo spec list and the difference is minor to say the least. For the slight extra Polestar throws in Ohlins, Brembo's, Carbon Strut Brace, Ferrita Exhaust to name the major changes.
Volvo could have done a base spec Polestar for cheaper but buyers in this segment demand the toys, and im sure Polestar is too new a brand to start commanding GT or Super Leggera style lightweight editions.
Lets face it its a 3.0 6cylinder Petrol with horrendous CO2 figures, regardless of the price the market would be limited to say the least. But at least Volvo have built it.

I just collected my one year old ex-demo example for a shade over £30k on a 4 year PCP. The balloon payment at 5 years old is £10,500 at an estimated 75k miles. A bargain for me and a bigger bargain for the next owner!
Look after it well and give me a shout in 4 years I'll do my best at the "look after it" bit. Got to tell you that it's a bloody good giggle! You'd better have understanding neighbours though as the noise it makes on a cold start is simply rude.
Quick update:
I'm now 7 weeks into the 'ownership experience' and still loving every minute. A business trip to Germany in week one gave me a chance to exercise the old girl properly, which was nice. Getting decent mpgs (27 average) despite numerous splendid B road blasts, although I've not yet taken the owner's manual advice of turning off the ESC to 'enjoy your favorite road'. Gotta love the Polestar chaps. Gives a rear bias to the AWD system apparently. I'll let you know how that goes when my undercarriage reaches the prerequisite dimensions. Possibly from the wrong side of a hedge. (I'm joking of course. I drive a Volvo for chuffs sake. May dislodge my flat cap).
