V40 - D4 - Reliability
Discussion
hi, new to this forum as i was searching for info and found this.
I have a 2015 (late) s60 D4. its a company lease car so no costs to me but so far not particularly impressed. Its been back for a couple of EGR faults but those were early on. Now 2 1/2 yrs old and just needed an inlet manifold replaced at 64000 miles.
Volvo met 40% of costs but i have to say if it had been my money i would have been disgusted at being expected to pay £500 plus to repair a car just out of warranty and still less than 3yrs.
I was very seriously considering buying or leasing an xc40 in 18months (we are moving to cash allowance) but this has put a lot of doubt in my mind. Volvo's warranty is niggardly and frankly very average. my last lease car was a skoda superb and Skoda replaced suspension mounts under warranty at 90000 miles as a goodwill gesture. MUCH better.
They are definitely still trading upon an image of reliability that they no longer deserve.
This is all my humble opinion but they have managed to put off an almost surefire future customer.

and as a followup...it has been back a second time to replace a split balance pipe (should have been spotted when the manifold was being replaced...did the manifold actually need replaced!?!?).
and to compound this it is still lurching occasionally and coming up with the check oil level light which is what it was doing before.
Clearly the dealer has no idea what they are doing and is randomly changing parts in the hope that they find the fault.
I remain unimpressed.
