Well about 200 miles in and really like the v90

The fuel economy is a little bit scary though, the central screen says 29 mpg, the on call app says 20mpg and the instrument cluster says 15 mpg. They are all fairly woeful but which is right?
Check that your app is configured to imperial gallons rather than US. The dash display you can choose between live/journey/tank mpgs.

How? I have trip MPG so far and haven't reset the trip. In the centre display I can see more.

Oh yes. Because they are punting them out on cheap lease deals!
And long may they continue to do so
Am halfway through my lease and would love another when the time comes
Same here. Actually would like a D5 of one flavour or another (CC) so will consider options when the clock is ticking!

I quite fancied a D5 too, mainly for the AWD, but even when prices were stupid they were a lot more than the standard cars

When I ordered my still a bargain T4 V90 just after prices started to rise a D4 was £60/month more expensive and the D5 £140/month

Which buys a lot of petrol

I saw a white CC Ocean Race this morning, it was lovely but a spectacular lack of discount and crap GFV surely mean the driver or their company is paying a massive amount of cash for the pleasure of getting around in it

Id be very happy with a standard CC when the time comes, especially at the last bucket shop sub £300 deals

Cheers, and fingers crossed

I managed to get this from Liverpool to Blackpool, albeit measured from M58 - M55. Very impressed still.

It's very thirsty round town mind but as soon as it's on the motorway it can get some respectable figures.

T4 ... over 50 mpg bow

dogdiego said:
So having had it 5 days I thought I'd give a brief write up for those still awaiting theirs...!

I think the first thing to say is that it's unbelievably comfortable, and mine's an R-design. I was a bit worried the Mrs might say something as the last relatively "sporty" car we had (Octavia VRS), she hated the suspension setup but she said the exact opposite to me the other night. Which I was surprised about. The seats are brilliant and although I had back ache after the first day (that was worrying...) it's disappeared now and I think it was just a case of getting adjusted to a new car and position and setting the seat up properly.

We have a T4 and if going sensibly, we can get between 25-30mpg around town. I created an individual drive mode whereby the engine and climate control are eco and everything else dynamic. I know the mrs just gets in and drives without any faffing, so it'll default to comfortable mode but there's been no discernible difference in mpg so far! It's going on the motorway tonight so I reckon we'll see 40mpg if we stick to a sensible speed.

I've not seen or felt any issues with the gearbox either, it's always took off exactly when it's needed to, no signs of any hesitation and no jerkiness when coming to a stop etc. We use the automatic brake so as soon as we've come to a stop it's feet off, engine off but the stop/start is crazy quick and it's ready to go again. It's such an easy car to drive - I can't emphasise that enough. The only thing I'm missing really is dipping wing mirrors and the reversing camera but I've no problem with the sensors so far, front or back. I've just known to take it easy and take the auto brake off so I can creep.

Just in respect of using sensus with internet etc. I tried using bluetooth tethering but I found that Spotify couldn't keep up with the sound quality set to ultra/very high - which is where it should be wink So what I've done is setup a wifi hotspot that only my Volvo can connect to, this has been perfect so far in terms of connectivity and battery life. Spotify app works great, RTTI working fine etc. Just a note about the Spotify app though. It does work, and it does look good but it's nowhere near as snappy as the phone app, have to give it a few seconds to load etc. We've got the standard stereo and the sound quality is probably the best I've heard from a "standard" system. Easily the best system in a car I've ever had anyway. I used the settings that soupdragon1 posted and added a little extra bass too. It's lovely; a really warm and rich sound with no hint of distortion at all. Very, very happy.

On call I eventually got setup which was pretty painless. I can imagine it'll be significantly more useful in winter when warming the car but it's good to have nonetheless.

So despite my annoyances with the dealer, one extremely happy Volvo driver at the minute.

If anybody wants to know anything, ask away.

The sub-menu that you can launch from the steering wheel controls allows you to turn on and off various metrics on the dash and choose which timescale of MPG you wish to see.

It's a pity I'm not an automotive journalist. I reckon I'd get at least two long-termer updates out of a tip run in a Volvo.

I scrolled down to that image just as my wife was asking me if I had been to the tip yet!

Continuing the theme of being pleased and surprised at the frugality of the T4 engine:

Current average MPG over the first 3,000 miles.

Bristol to Manchester on Sunday.

Had the first long run in the V90 CC 650 miles round trip mixture of motorways and A roads. Really comes into its own as its supremely comfy, the pilot assist makes the motorway miles more relaxing, previous cars have just had bogo cruise but after this I'd atleast have to have a decent adaptive system for the motorway.

We managed to fit all our luggage in, including the pram and carry cot.

After 4.5k im getting 26.5 mpg its not bad. Main things I still dont care for are the engine and gear box but the rest outweighs it. I hope there are decent volvo deals in 12 month's time.....

Hello,

I pick up the v90 CC in grey in two weeks time, things I have noted to check for/do on collection are:

1. Mini Sim for on call, I have one of the three sims that were suggested on here. Still to activate it but will do this before collection. Do I need to do anything else?

2. Make sure the service due date is reset to day one. Looking at the manual car status app should have this.

3. Inspect for damage- most important.

4.anything else that the garage is best placed to do such as link up phones etc.

Looking forward to ‘The Barge’

Had to use on call for the first time the other day (button on headlining), really horrid noise from the back left wheel, grinding and squeeling ob braking.

I remember reading somewhere, possibly on this thread about stones in the brakes, tried going back and forth and trying to dislodge but no use, in the end the recovery firm had wheel off and hub assembly dismantled and found a stone wedged in the actual calliper its self, all removed and fine again

I tried the high beam assist for the first time earlier this week. What a useless piece of technology.

The V90 one seems a bit dimwitted compared to the version I had on my 3 Series. I don't think much of the self driving mode, either. In town stop-start it's not smooth and loves nothing more than to block driveways and junctions. You end up putting in more effort than if you did it (more smoothly) yourself.

Indeed.

In a way, it's a very frustrating car. It's all a bit "okay".

The technology largely smacks of stuff that should never have progressed from beta testing without further development.

Close, but not really ready.

After 18 months with mine, I'm looking forward to a change next year.

Get the dealer to set up Volvo On Call for youn before you leave. Helps if you have the app downloaded to your phone and you've got a Volvo ID registered.

Superficially it's very nicely furnished and looks nice but, I agree, the quality of the implementation compared to others is not quite at the same level.

I use the inbuilt Spotify app, seeming the car has no CD player and I don't want to mess with my phone whilst driving. Sometimes it logs in to my Spotify account in seconds, I then pop into a shop and get back in the car. It can take 5 mins to sign back in. It just isn't a professional standard.
