It was based on the ever changing dates (and total lack of communication) from the dealer/Volvo.

I didn’t use a broker but dealt directly with the dealer.

The dealer funded the service and courtesy car (new V90 Inscription Pro) and they split the cost of the camera and Polestar with Volvo UK.

It did take a lot of time and effort but they messed me about for months so I kept at it. For example, at one stage they were so confident it was about to arrive that they told me to go ahead and sell the car it was replacing. A day before collection, I received an email to say that it had been “delayed” (ie still in China). The whole experience was a shambles from start to finish.

Most of the issues were due to Volvo, with the dealer compounding the problem with ineptitude and a healthy smattering of “untruths”.
If your V90 was in China, that would be a problem.

I thought the S90 was built in China and the V90 in Europe?

Correct. As per my post, the V90 was the courtesy car. I was waiting for an S90.

Ah really! Weird how different it is for people.

I couldn't sign mine until car had been delivered and registered. Well, that's how it sounded from Santander anyway.
Ordered mine from the dealer - via car wow.

Dealing with the dealer. Finance is santander t/a Volvo car finance.

GOt my V90 D4 in for a service tomorrow, cost is £240. Is that a decent price? I’ve tried scrolling back 30/40 pages but can’t see much on service costs, other than the service package. I have a 24 month lease and have held off on the service for 3 weeks. Also, I have done 11k, this won’t be an issue will it, isn’t it 12 months or 10k?
I had mine serviced at a local independent for £160 all in. No need to use a Volvo dealer, providing they use and mention on the invoice that they used genuine Volvo parts and oil to the correct specification.

My local garage (Wakefield) said £270, so I said I wanted to check with the garage where the car came from (Bradford), she straight away said £250. I spoke to Bradford and they said they would beat it and do it for £240, so Wakefield matched it. Hate paying for it though, you are literally paying for a stamp!
Who was your Wakefield dealer? I collected my V90 CC from Riverside who were excellent upon handover and going through the car with me.
They’re the most expensive for servicing around me though so wasn't going to go to them for that.

My Santander contract specifies that a franchised Volvo dealership must be used.

I wonder if that would be judged to be an unfair term in the contract ? (So not legally enforceable )

It's certainly incorrect for Santander to assume that on'y Volvo dealers can service a car to the required standard.

Why would it be unfair? Santander want to protect the value of the car, which means full main dealer service history. Nobody is forced to take the contract. I knew this was one of the terms, and I've budgeted for the Volvo dealer service in a couple of months.

Yep. Just on this point, my Santander contract from about 14 months ago reads:

"6.3 The vehicle must be serviced in accordance with the
manufacturer's recommended service intervals, using
genuine parts, at a franchised dealer. If you do not meet
this obligation, you may be liable to pay a fee of £100 plus
VAT for each service interval which was not undertaken by
a franchised dealer."

It would be unfair as a warranty term if you owned the car, but as the car belongs to Santander it's a different matter.

What will happen if I don’t bother getting my Santander 18 month lease v90 serviced at all?

Will I just get fined the £100?

Also how the hell do I get the auto wipers to stay on auto? I have tried altering the setting on the sensus system but doesn’t seem to make any difference?

I have also changed the colours of the ambient lighting but I haven’t actually noticed any ambient lighting illumination at any point?

There's a button on the windscreen wiper stalk, facing upwards. It looks like it's just a graphic, but it's in fact the button that puts the auto wipers on. Who's stay in whatever setting you put it in until you change it.

I think the ambient lighting is only included above Momentum trim level. There's a small LED in the overhead console that illuminates the centre console.

This button doesn’t fix them in auto though. Every time you turn the ignition off the auto wiper function goes off and you have to press the button again.

Not in ours it doesn't. It's on auto every time I get in.

The Volvo manual phone app is great and searchable.

I actually did and the wipers still don’t want to stay on auto.
