Service date for my S90. I collected the car on 26th March last year. The Reg Date shows 24th March. In the Service Book the pre delivery Service was done on 9 March and says Next Service Due 9th March 2021.

So what date is the next Service due in reality? It’s a 2 year lease so I’m hoping to get this one done just under 13 months and avoid the second service.

The service due date is shown in the car.

In the Left-hand page on the main display, go to Car status > service

It shows service due in xx days. The system starts counting down 28 days prior to this (and displays a message at every start).

You are allowed to go 30 days beyond the service due date without invalidating the service schedule.

When the system is reset after a service, it seems to reset (based on my experience) to 360 days, rather than 365!

I would have thought that you should be getting daily service due reminders for the last 4 weeks (based on 360 days from 9 March last year)!

Thanks. But... after just 8/9 months I was getting Service reminders! I took it into a Dealer and they reset it but said they could only reset it to zero and not to correct date. So that’s showing nothing helpful I’m afraid!!

I rang the supplying Dealer and the one I’ll take it to. Both said that it’s the 24th, the date of Registration. That’s what shows online when I check it, the date the first log book was issued.

Well Santander eventually decided to contact me yesterday about money I owe them exactly 2 months since my car went back.

I thought I owed them about £175 However despite there being no damage charges they say I owe them close to £750!

The higher charge comes from the fact they didn’t bother to take a monthly payment after the 3 month Covid break. I hadn’t even realised this had happened but on checking my bank statement I did actually have a 4 month payment holiday instead of 3 so looks like I do owe them £315 there. This is there fault though not mine.

The rest is the early termination which was £390 plus vat. However they claim I owe the full amount and haven’t deducted the extra monthly payment they took from me after the car went back..I actually emailed them about this almost 2 months ago and they said they would adjust it but they haven’t.

To sum up it appears I legitimately owe them about £475 which is a bit of a kick in the balls when I thought it was closer to £175. I am waiting for a call back from them today to try to sort it out.

I have a Volvo s90 momentum t4, from Lex autolease. 2 years lease expires in a few months. I am paying 214 gbp monthly with 3 month upfront, could not find any similar deal so considering extending. Does anyone have experience with extending formally or informally with them?

I just had this call too.
They took the first payment after we agreed a 3 month payment holiday. I asked for it to be refunded, which they did, then they didn’t take the next three either.
Have agreed to pay another £100 a month for four months to cover the difference.
Am watching the bank account closely now.. Have all your payments and dates on one sheet in front of you ready would be my advice!

That is a remarkably good price!

My 2-year lease (direct with Volvo/Santander) ends next month. I got a call in January offering a 6-month extension at the same monthly price.

The only trouble with extending a 2-year lease is incurring the expensive 2-year service charges.
Given that you are on such a cheap deal, that is probably a price worth paying!
(For reference, I am on a 6 + 23 deal at £258 for the same vehicle).

st. Just went through my bank statements. Looks like over the lease I only paid 14 monthly payments this means I owe them 1 monthly and 3 half monthly payments from handing the car back early.

Grand total £787.40p. Enormous kick in the nuts!

this deal for 5k mileage, which might explain the price. I thought I might go over a bit, but with lockdown situation car still would be under 10k at the end. Went via broker vehiclesavers.com which added a 360 admin fee. Second-year service is a bit of a pain, 480 or something so thinking to extend for a year or two to justify it. Short 3-6 month extension now worth paying for the service IMHO.

Mine was admittedly for 8K but it's still a v. good price!

Does your second service need to be with a main dealer? (If your finance isn't with Santander, then possibly not).
Halfords will do a 2nd service for a lot cheaper than the £480.
Volvo should price match if you can find a Volvo dealer within 5 miles of a Halfords.

On previous leases (VWFS) I was written too and asked if I'd be interested in purchasing the car. From memory you logged into a website and it gave you a figure. To be fair it was a good offer i.e. below market for what it would have cost for a vehicle of a similar age, mileage plus of course the added bonus you know the car.

I might have contemplated it with the V90CC but due to COVID we've not needed two cars so decided to return, didn't investigate if they'd have been open to a sale (Santander).

Finance with Lex Autolease and the car came from a dealer in York called Ray Chapman Motors. Not sure how I can use Kwik Fit or Halfords instead of the main dealer, something I have to figure out. Local Kwik Fit told me they cant update Volvo's electronic service records

Sorry for alerting you to the bad news..
At least you’re not paying for the second service as well.

They won’t match Halfords IME because (despite Halfords claims) it’s not like for like. Useful as a haggling tool though. I posted my experience a few months ago in this thread.

My T4 rdesign is through Volvo/Santander and I recently ask this question. I paid a big initial on an 18 month lease so monthlies are only £130 (8kpa). Amortises at about £290. Took 3 month CV extension so now amortises at about £260. When I asked about an extension they’d only do 28 days at about £9 per day. A no brainer. I’d like to extend further but they wouldn’t. I wonder if that will change closer to lease end in July?

I tried this with my S90 and the answer was no from ALD as it isn’t in the contract.

Also I can extend on a cost per day rate from the end of the contract which over the month is more expensive than my usual monthlies so I got the message that they want it back!!

Anyone else check to see of the on call app is still active after returning their Volvo? Mine is laugh

Thought it would all be reset before another buyer took ownership.

Hi all,

I know this has been mentioned a couple of times previously (at least!) but I’d be grateful if someone could clear it up for my situation now.

I delayed the first service on my 2 year lease (using COVID as a handy excuse) to avoid the second service. My car is due back on the 23rd May at the latest and my new lease is due by the 10th May, so was looking to arrange for it to be picked up that week (sometime in the week of 10th - 15th May).

My car says the next service is due in 83 days time - which I make to be the 11th June. I imagine the service due message will come on 30 days prior, which would be the 12th May.

So my question - am I only liable to get it serviced after the 83 days expire or when the message appears 30 days prior? If it’s when the service message comes on then I’d look to get it collected the week prior (so 3rd - 9th May) to avoid that but if it’s only when the date has expired I won’t need to be as rushed.

Do I just ring Volvo Financial services to arrange collection (I ordered it through a main dealer who, when they rang to ask if I was wanting another lease through them, told me they don’t deal with returns)?

Separate issue, has anyone else lost the ability to send a postcode/waypoint on the map to the car when using the app? Mine just spins for ages then always tells me it couldn’t connect to the car but other connected functions like remote locking, remote start and vehicle information are all working correctly. Annoying but obviously won’t have the car much longer!

Thanks in advance!
