Had the old girl for nearly 1o years. No major probs on services etc ,but had two 'niggles' one not enough to keep me awake, but sort of itch you cant reach type an the other ha got me completely flummuxed

did put this up a few years ago, but hoping a new guy on here may see them and come up with an answer

first Take off from rest.. not exactly the quickest but worries me whn getting onto a roundabout when there a distinct lag between flooring it, the engine picking up and the car moving. However once it gets going it moves

It isnt stuck in winter mode unless the lights are telling lies. Recently i have got the following

Get in
Start up
Put in D
nothing for 2-3 secs. then a slight 'thump' as it gets into gear

So would a fluid change do anything?

Second one is a coolant problem

Looses water ,about a 500ml every 2-3 weeks
Water does not smell of exhaust nor is oily with any mayonnaise on the cap

What i find
After a run the top hose seems 'under pressure, snd on opening the cap water bubbles up and overflows
Even going the next morning the pressure is still there
Thinking it might be san airlock i top it up and do 'CPR' on the top hose sometimes you feel water in there other times it feels empty....hard to explain, but you know something isnt quite right

Water level goes up and down and on occasions i get the coolant light on but it then goes out. On stopping to check the eater overflows on opening cap

When cap is off and at temp it doesnt bubble when i rev the engine and the water circulates so i am not looking at a massive head gasket problem
The heating is bit hit and miss doesnt correspond at all with the temp gauge nad blows cold even set at max, and then suddenly works ok. so it seems like a circulation prob
I did drain the rad and put radflush through it, but not much improvement

so any experts on here that may throw some light on how i can cure these probs, as i said the sluggishness has always been there. the water is just getting on my tits a bit!!

Other than that no probs just these bloody niggles ( i might add that even mentioning the drive probs to a main dealer ,they never did anything, just said these a slow cars from rest...but 0-60 in 13 secs is bloody slow IMHO) I am now going to go to an indy who replaced a brake servo that i got on fleabay with no probs. And see if he can suggest anything at the service in Sept

Get the gearbox oil flushed 10 years old it definitely needs it.

Also check for water in the old fluid as the water can leak in via oil cooler
