Wifey’s XC60 (2012 D5 AWD) is coming up to 90,000 miles and the auto box is a bit sluggish and making occasional noises.

I’ve read that a gearbox oil change is advisable, despite them being sealed for life

I’ve contacted two well-reviewed independent garages near to me but after chatting through what needs doing, neither have come back to me. They clearly don’t need the business....

Are there any recommendations for decent Volvo Indies in the Staffordshire / Birmingham area that know about XC60s and are capable of returning customer enquiries?

I’ve not used them for a while, though CP Motors at Tamworth were good in the past at diagnosing some tricky annoying issues with our leggy V70 2.4T when we had it that our preferred local garage could find.

Thanks for the suggestion, but they are one of the two companies that haven't bothered to call me back...

Good grief - what is it about Volvo indies?

I've now spoken or left messages with three Midlands-based Volvo specialists and not one has returned my call

The Volvo main dealer wants £90 for a diagnostic and £385 to change the gearbox oil and filter, which feels a bit excessive. However, if I can't get an indie to talk to me, it might be my only option
