Defender finished. Took about 18 or so hours and a very enjoyable build. The only problem is, I'm bitten by the bug now and considering getting the Bugatti Chiron or the Lamborghini Sian. Has anyone built both? Which is the better kit? First choice would be the Sian but I've read things about the colour shade being off.

Just bagged a Top Gear rally car, 42109, for a bargain £43.00 delivered!!!!

Discovers that Argos have dropped their price too £43.00 even though they don’t have any in stock.

So thought I would have a go at the John Lewis price match promise.

And they accepted my claim! Well chuffed with that bearing in mind the John Lewis website price is £125.00.

All I had too do was pay the full price, email John Lewis the order number & the difference will be refunded at 00.01 tomorrow morning.

So now I am seeing what other bargains I can find.

Sodding Covid. Costing me a fortune!!!
Sounds like a result, just be careful you don't get caught out by this:

JL: "We carry a wide range of lines, and the competitor has to have the line actually in stock (rather than available only to order) for us to match the price. For products that we deliver, we ask that the competitor is able to deliver in equivalent timescales to us, and on products that require delivery, we'll take delivery charges into account when comparing prices."

As you mention, Argos - as per fking usual - are not showing physical stock anywhere of this so it's possible JL may refuse to price match per their conditions.

As a building experience I thought that the Sian was a better set. The build is a lot more complex with interesting angles and sub-builds. It also has the benefit of printed pieces instead of stickers. The completed car is, in my opinion, a step up from the Bugatti regarding both design and how it looks. Initially I was very sceptical, but have been won over by it.

Email from JL clearly say that upon completion of the order all i need too do is to email them with the order number & they will expedite the refund of the difference.

Nothing stated on the email that the item needs too be in stock at the reduced price.

If they don’t do the refund I will simply return the kit.

This may have been asked before, but where is the best place to sell unopened Lego sets? Got some non-Technic and a couple of Technic sets that I've decided I don't want to build so need to move them on. I'm not on Facebook etc, so that route is out.

Just received confirmation from John Lewis that my price match refund has been processed this afternoon.

I think I was lucky because I understand that they are now rejecting all further claims.

So I got the Top Gear rally car for £43.00!!

Well chuffed with that.

Amazon do delivery to drop lockers. They are the big yellow sets of lockers at supermarkets etc. They deliver to the box. They send you an access code for the box. You have something like 14 days to collect your item. You put the code into the touch screen and the appropriate door pops open and you retrieve your item.

Today’s deliveries.

Rally car courtesy of John Lewis price match - wouldn’t pay £125.00 however £43.00 is a steal.

Chiron is effectively brand new - 4 seals unbroken.

Well I've just raised some funds for another set after selling a watch on eBay. So do I proceed with the Lamborghini Sian as originally planned or buy a couple of smaller sets? The Bugatti was tempting at £240 on Amazon but it's gone up by £40 overnight. I also came across the lepin versions at a fraction of the price but not sure how good these are and if I can be bothered to wait.

I've just thought the same.....the range of 'speed champions' seems so much greater than Lego ever made. scratchchin
