Doesn't matter what they were once, long ago. It matters what they are now - the Sian was one of the sets that got a price hike late last year (along with 140 or so other sets). We can only look for current deals against prices in the context of the current climate, much the same way that the cheap lease deal I got once on a BMW 840i for £350/mo isn't ever going to happen again.

Most of people probably don't have a Costco membership - I don't - but Costco do have it for £220 at present. Smyths are at £300, Zavvi at £320 but pretty much everywhere else is £390-odd. In that context it's a pretty good deal from Asda, particularly if you're not able to buy from Costco. If you're waiting to see it at £180 again you'll be waiting for a very long time I suspect.
I did not disagree with you. I thought that Sian was not so popular to start with that made the price drop rather significantly considering the RRP. smile

Has anybody seen any deals on the D11 lately? Everyone seems to have it at £399.99 or £429.99

Jadlam have it at £365.
It was available (after import duty etc) at £318:49 a few days ago from Amazon Germany, so might be worth keeping a look out there.

NASCAR Camaro complete. Actually finished at the weekend but, strangely in my experience, was missing a fundamental part for the front structure. Lego customer service was excellent, got the replacement today. Not a very inspiring build with limited functionality, and somewhere that I can’t spot my steering is very stiff/jammed, I don’t usually suffer any issues… scratchchin May have to pull it apart again.

Next: the Ford GT cool

Let me know what it's like, I saw it in Costco on Friday night but the box looked very small, thin and not very big in width and height either. Makes me think it won't end up being very big?

I wish Lego would actually reduce the box size to that needed. They may not look as impressive in the shop but would be easier to hide from my wife.

Maybe there should be an option to purchase the wife-friendly (they could call it the eco version) kit in a plain, smaller brown box.

There is often an enormous amount of air-space inside many of the boxes, that's for sure. I guess there's a perception of VFM; larger box = higher value.

I'd also like them to move to the paper bags quicker - I hate the amount of plastic bags that have to be thrown away and I'm surprised they haven't been pulled up on it sooner by eco-zealots. Much as I love Lego it's currently environmentally terrible by any measure.

In the weight of plastic in each model. The bags are the least of the green problems.
